Abstract: Provided is the use of NOR-HALS compound of formula (I) for inducing flame retardancy in polymers. Polymer compositions comprising NOR-HALS compounds of formula (I), at least one flame retardant compound, and a polymer subtrate are provided. These compositions are especially useful for the manufacture of flame retardant compositions based on thermoplastic polymers and duroplastic polymers. Provided also is a process for inducing flame retardancy in polymers, which comprises adding to a polymer substrate a combination of a) at least one NOR-HALS compound of formula (I) and b) at least one flame retardant compound.
