Abstract:
The present invention is directed to cationic nanoparticles, methods to make them, and the use of compositions containing said nanoparticles in personal care compositions or formulations. The nanoparticles are useful in personal care applications and impart antimicrobial properties to home and personal care products containing them. These cationic nanoparticles also contribute useful conditioning properties to hair-care and skin-care products.
Abstract:
Cationic 2,2,6,6-tetraalkylpiperidinyl alkoxyamines of, for example, formula (1a) and (1b) are useful as polymerization initiators/regulators in a controlled stable free radical polymerization process to produce intercalated and/or exfoliated nanoparticles from natural or synthetic clays. Compositions comprising improved nanocomposites produced by this process are useful as, for example, coatings, sealants, caulks, adhesives and plastic additives wherein Q1 is a direct bond or a —CH2— group T1, T2, T3 and T4 are independently methyl or ethyl with the proviso that at least one is ethyl; T7 and T8 are hydrogen or methyl; T5 and T6 are hydrogen or T5 and T6 together are a group ═O, ═NOH, ═NO-T9 or T5 is hydrogen and T6 is —O-T9 or —NR9-T9 T9 is hydrogen, R9 or —C(O)—R9; R9 is hydrogen, C1-C18alkyl, C3-C18alkenyl, C3-C18alkynyl, phenyl or C7-C9phenylalkyl unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxy, halogen or C1-C4alkoxy; K1 and K2 are hydrogen, C1-C18alkyl, C5-C12cycloalkyl, phenyl or C7-C9phenylalkyl and K3 is a group containing selected amine containing salts.
Abstract:
The instant invention relates to shaped transition metal particles, in particular in the form of a dispersion in an aqueous and/or organic medium, the manufacture thereof and their use as an infrared (IR) absorbing agent, an IR curing agent for coatings, an additive in conductive formulations, an antimicrobial agent or for sensoring organic and/or inorganic compounds. Further, the invention relates to dispersions comprising said shaped particles and an aqueous and/or organic medium, such as a thermoplastic or crosslinkable polymer, as well as to antimicrobial compositions and products.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a block copolymer prepared by ATRP, wherein the polymer chain terminal group is structurally modified with the functionally effective group of a lubricant or polymer additive selected from the group consisting of antioxidants, metal deactivators, antiwear and extreme pressure additives and corrosion inhibitors. The invention also relates to a composition comprising the structurally modified block copolymer and a composition of matter subject to oxidative, thermal or light induced degradation, such as lubricants or polymers.
