Abstract: The invention relates to a composition, which comprises the components (i) a synthetic polymer; and (ii) a ternary stabilizer combination comprising a benzofuranone, a sterically hindered phenol compound such as a bisphenolic stabilizer and an aliphatic phosphorous (III) compound. A process for manufacturing the aforementioned composition, the use of a stabilizer combination as component (ii) for stabilizing synthetic polymer component (i) against degradation and the use of a stabilizer combination (ii) for stabilizing synthetic polymer (i). As well described are further specific additive mixtures comprising these components and e.g. aminic and/or phenolic and/or chromanol-based antioxidants as further components.

Abstract: A method of manufacture of zinc monoglycerolate containing an incorporated modifier, and the product, the zinc monoglycerolate being in the form of agglomerates of crystallites, wherein the crystallite size based on the average coherence domain length is not more than 30 nm in the direction, and not more than 60 nm in the direction, as determined by the Scherrer equation via powder X-ray diffraction; and the aspect ratio computed by / coherent domain lengths is less than 0.65, preferably less than 0.56, in particular less than 0.44. Polymers containing this nucleating agent and methods for their production are also described. The zinc monoglycerolate is useful as a nucleating agent, and is very effective at low loading levels in polymers such as polypropylene.

The nucleating agent is used here in an amount in the range from 0.01% by weight to 2.0% by weight, based on the thermoplastic polyurethane (P1) or the reaction mixture (R-P1). Further relates the present composition comprising at least one compact thermoplastic polyurethane and at least one compound (N) that has a conjugated, nitrogen-containing aromatic structure as nucleating agent, wherein the compound (N) is a solid, and the use of the compounds mentioned as nucleating agents for a compact thermoplastic polyurethane.
