Abstract: Método para la preparación de un poliéster, método que comprende en una primera etapa, hacer reaccionar un ácido dicarboxílico o un diéster dicarboxílico C1-C4 con un diol a una temperatura de desde 150 a 300º C para efectuar la esterificación o transesterificación para preparar un precondensado y en una segunda etapa, hacer reaccionar el precondensado a una temperatura de desde 250 a 300º C y una presión de desde 1, 333 kPa hasta 0, 01333 kPa (de 10 a 0, 1 Torr) para efectuar la policondensación para preparar un poliéster de alto peso molecular, en el que se emplea un compuesto de complejo de metal-ácido fosfónico de fórmula en la primera etapa, en la segunda etapa o tanto en la primera como en la segunda etapa como catalizador de reacción; y en la que n es 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ó 6; p es un número entero de desde 1 hasta 30 siendo p = (v · q) /2; 15 M es un metal seleccionado del grupo que consiste en Li, Na, K, Cs, Be, Ca, Mg, Sr, Ba, Al, Sb, Cd, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu yZn; v es la valencia del metal M y es 1, 2 ó 3; q es un número entero de desde 1 a 20 siendo q = 2p/v; y R2 y R3 son independientemente hidrógeno, hidroxilo, halógeno, alcoxilo de cadena lineal o ramificada de 1 a 8 20 átomos de carbono, alquilo de cadena lineal o ramificada de 1 a 8 átomos de carbono o amino; y R4 es hidrógeno o alquilo de cadena lineal o ramificada de 1 a 8 átomos de carbono.

Abstract: The instant invention relates to new compounds of the formula I wherein R 0 is R 1 and R 2 are each independently of the other a fluorine containing group, R 3 and R 4 are each independently of the other hydrogen, a fluorine containing group, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, phenyl or or R 3 and R 4 , together with the carbon atom to which they are bonded, form a C 5 -C 8 -cydoalkylidene ring that is unsubstituted or substituted by from 1 to 3 C 1 -C 4 alkyl groups; R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C 1 -C 12 alkyl or C 3 -C 12 alkenyl, X 1 and X 2 are each independently of the other a direct bond or C 1 -C 12 alkylene, m is 1 to 10'000, and n is 0 to 10'000. These new compounds of the formula I are useful as reducers of surface energy for organic materials such as polycarbonates, polyesters or polyketones or their mixtures, blends or alloys. Polymers with such a reduced surface energy possess an "easy to clean", "self-cleaning" "antisoiling", "soil-release" "antigraffiti", "oil resistance", "solvent resistance", "chemical resistance", "self lubricating", "scratch resistance", "low moisture absorption" and "hydrophobic" surface.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the preparation of a polyester, which method comprises in a first step, reacting a dicarboxylic acid or a C1-C4 dicarboxylic diester with a diol at a suitable temperature and pressure to effect esterification or transesterification to prepare a precondensate and in a second step, reacting the precondensate to effect polycondensation at a suitable temperature and pressure to prepare a high molecular weight polyester, where a metal phosphonic acid complex compound of the formula is employed in the first step, in the second step or in both the first and second steps as a reaction catalyst.
