Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing 1,2-dichloroethane, wherein a) ethene, hydrogen chloride, and oxygen are fed into an oxychloridation reactor and converted to a product gas flow containing 1,2-dicloroethane, non-converted ethene, and carbon dioxide, b) 1,2-dichloroethane is separated from the product gas flow, an exhaust gas containing ethene remaining, c) the exhaust is consumed at least partially in that it is returned to the oxychloridation reactor and/or fed into a chemical conversion consuming ethene, particularly a direct chloridization, whereupon d) the product gas flow and/or the exhaust gas is brought into contact with a fluid absorptive material for removing carbon dioxide, said material comprising at least one amine, an amino carbolic acid, an amino carbolic acid salt, an amino sulfonic acid, an amino sulfonic acid salt, or a mixture thereof. The method allows the efficient use of the utilized ethene.
