SOLUTION: The device for distributing liquid comprises a means for providing a source of liquid under pressurization, a means in fluid communication with the source of liquid for adjusting the steady-state flow rate of the liquid, a bolus dosing means also in fluid communication with the source of liquid for providing a liquid-controllable dose of bolus, and a downstream capillary means in fluid communication with an adjustment means and the bolus dosing means.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a system for both of the constant feeding of a useful drug and a controlled replenishment of the useful drug to a patient, which are inexpensive, extremely movable, and easy to use. SOLUTION: This device for the dispensation of a liquid is constituted of a bolus dosing means and a thin tube means for flowing-down. In this case, the bolus dosing means is under a fluid-communicating state with a liquid source-providing means under a pressurized state, a means to regulate a constant flow rate of a liquid which is under a fluid-communicating state with a liquid source, and also, the liquid source to provide a controllable bolus dosing with the liquid. In the meantime, the thin tube means for flowing-down is under a fluid-communicating state with the above regulating means and the bolus dosing means.

Abstract: An apparatus (60) and system (20) are disclosed for the patient-controlled delivery of an analgesic or other beneficial agent 142, while preventing administration of a toxic quantity of the beneficial agent. The invention permits delivery of fractional doses to a patient in quantities which are directly proportional to the time period since the last dose or fraction thereof was delivered to the patient. In the preferred embodiments the apparatus includes a housing (58) including a casing (88) and a back plate (86), the housing containing a control switch (84) for opening and closing downstream conduit (62) and for depressing a floating plate (100) that thereby compresses a dose reservoir (90) with the beneficial agent (142) therein. A spring (124) biases the control switch (84).

Abstract: Infusor Having Distal Flow Regulator An infusor (10) is disclosed for dispensing a liquid under pressure at a predetermined flow rate. The infusor (10) includes a housing (12) containing an elastomeric bladder (16) for receiving the liquid under pressure. The liquid is delivered from the bladder to a patient through tubing (36). A non-adjustable, preselected flow regulator (38) includes a capillary bore (48). The flow regulator (38) is disposed at the distal end of the tubing (36), such that the tubing may be primed quickly, in a time period virtually unaffected by the flow regulator (38). Distal placement of the flow regulator (38) results in a more constant temperature, and thus a more constant flow rate, of fluid flowing through the flow regulator.
