Abstract: This invention relates to an improved method of producing impermeable cellular polyurethane elastomers from polyisocyanates, relatively high molecular weight polyhydroxyl compounds and water as chain lengthening and blowing agent to which additional chain lengthening agents may be added and it is characterized by the use of certain silicone derivatives. The new method makes it possible for impermeable cellular molded articles to be produced without the necessity of forming a skin on the surface, of the kind known, for example, in integral skin foams.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyurethane foams capable of being flame laminated and high frequency welded, comprising reacting: (a) polyisocyanate, (b) a compound having a molecular weight of from 400 to 10,000 containing at least two isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms and (c) a dialkoxy-phosphonyl-N-alkyl-formic acid amide of the formula: wherein m represents an integer of from 1 to 3, n represents an integer of from 0 to 8, X represents halogen, hydrogen, C1 to C6 alkyl, -OR, or R represents C1 to C6 alkyl, R1 represents hydrogen, C1 to C10 alkyl, C1 to C10 alkylene, C6 to C10 aryl or C6 to C10 arylene, and R2 and R3, which may be the same or different, represent C1 to C10 alkyl in the presence of water and/or blowing agent. The present invention also relates to dialkoxy-phosphonyl-N-formic acid amides.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing polyurethane resins using novel catalysts selected from the group consisting of a process for the production of cellular or non-cellular polyurethane resins comprising reacting: (a) polyisocyanates; with (b) compounds having at least 2 isocyanate reactive hydrogen atoms; in the presence of (c) tertiary amines as catalysts; optionally with the addition of (d) blowing agents, stabilizers and other known additives; characterized in that the substances used as component (c) comprise compounds selected from the group consisting of (1) (2) (3) (4) and mixtures thereof in which formulae: the symbols R may be the same or different and represent straight or branched-chain alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; the symbols n may be the same or different and represent 2 or 3; the symbols m may be the same or different and represent 2 or 3; and k represents an integer of from 1 to 5. The process may also be carried out in the presence of other tertiary amine catalysts, particularly compounds containing one tertiary nitrogen atom and at least one amide group. The novel catalysts of the invention function as age-resistors and light-protective agents.
