    Abstract: Organopolysiloxane converted to elastomer by action of water, contains in addn. (based on total wt.). 1-15% of a complex of Ti, Zr, or Al, obtd. by mixing an alcoholate or phenolate of these metals derived from an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic alcohol opt. substd. by OH or NH2 or a phenol, or a partial hydrolysate of these, with an alpha- or beta-diketone, -ketoalcohol, - ketoacid or alkyl ester of the acid, in pron.of 1-4 moles keto cpd. per g. atom of metal. Mouldable mixtures of the organopolysiloxanes with cross-linking agents to elastic solids at below 50 deg.C., and the materials adhere well to various substrates, e.g. flat glass, hollow glass, Al, Zn, Sn, Cu, heat-cross-linked elastomers, and p.v.c., acrylic and epoxy resins.

[Also in Division C3] Cross-linkable coating compositions which comprise, in an organic solvent, a copolymer of:- (a) 65 to 95% by weight of a C 1-3 alkyl ester of methacrylic acid, (b) 0.1 to 15% by weight of a C 1-4 alkyl ester of acrylic acid, (c) 0.5 to 20% by weight of N-hydroxymethyl-acrylamide or -methacrylamide and/or a C 1-8 alkyl ether thereof, (d) 0 to 10% by weight of an α,#-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid amide of 3 to 5 carbon atoms and, (e) 0 to 10% by weight of an α,#-ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, and also 10 to 30 parts by weight of cellulose acetobutyrate and from 20 to 60 parts by weight of plasticizer, per 100 parts by weight of copolymer and sprayed onto degreased steel panels and other specified substrates and stoved. Plasticizers specified are benzyl butyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate, dicyclohexyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, triphenyl phosphate, dibutyl adipate and benzyl octyl adipate. The organic solvent is preferably an aromatic hydrocarbon, an alcohol, a ketone or an ester or a mixture thereof, a mixture of toluene, n-butanol and methyl ethyl ketone being preferred and used in the examples. Other additives such as pigments and hardening catalysts may also be present.
