Abstract: 1327405 Floor covering BAYER AG 13 Oct 1970 [17 Oot 1969] 48558/70 Heading B2E A floor covering comprises a textile surface layer, e.g. needled felts, tuftings, pilefabrics, knitted fabrics or Raschel webbing and an underlay of non-foamed polyurethane formed from a polyhydroxy compound and a polyisocyanate used in an OH/NCO molar ratio of from 1:0.6 to 1:1.3. Suitable polyhydroxy compounds are polyethers of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and/or butylene glycol having two or more terminal OH groups of average molecular weight of 300-5000 which may be reacted with tolylene-2,4 and -2,6-diisocyanate and mixtures thereof, the crude phosgenation product of the condensation product of aniline and formaldehyde, diphenyl methane-4,4'-diisocyanate and diphenylmethane diisocyanate modified with 5-10% wt. of carbodiimide. The textile may be of synthetic fibres (e.g. polyethylene glycol terephthalate, polyamide or polyacrylonitrile) or natural fibres such as cotton. The underlay may be applied directly to the textile or by transfer coating from a web.

Abstract: A fibre fill comprising polyester fibres within a titre range of from 3 to 20 dtex and having a staple length of from 12 to 30 mm and 16 to 20 crimp arcs per 100 mm, which have been treated with a dressing comprising: (i) a mixture of: (a) an OH group end-blocked polydimethylsiloxane, and (b) polymethylhydrogensiloxane in respective proportion by weight of from 23:20 to 29:14; (ii) a reaction mixture of the epoxide of the formula and hexamethylenediamine; (iii) a hardener consisting of tin dioctylmaleate and tin butyllaurate in a 1:1 weight ratio; in an amount o from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight, based on the total weight of fibres; and (iv) an antistatic agent. The fibre fill may be prepared by treating a stretched, crimped and fixed polyester cable band with the above dressing, squeezing the cable off until the desired solid content is obtained, scooped with an antistatic solution and cut up into staple fibres. The fibre fill is useful for filling cushions, pillows, quilts and duvets either alone or together with feathers.

Abstract: 1300813 Fleece of composite fibres FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 13 March 1970 [15 March 1969] 12124/70 Heading D1R A bonded non-woven fleece or mat consists of or contains synthetic fibres, or mixtures of synthetic and natural fibres, which contains at least 30% by weight of two component fibres having a sheath/core structure, the core component being a polyamide-6 and the sheath component being a copolyamide of amiriocaproic acid and aminoundecanoic acid, the sheath component having a softening range at least 20‹C below that of the core component. The fleece is produced by heating an unbonded fleece at a temperature in the softening range of the sheath component which becomes plastic and acts as a binder while the core is unchanged. The fleece may be formed by a carding machine. The two-component fibres may be mixed with fibres having a crimp. An example is given of them mixed with fibres of carbonised wool. Heating may be effected by calendering at a temperature between 100 and 150‹C. The fleece may be stitched before being autogeneously bonded.
