Abstract: A smart card (1) has a memory area (11) that stores personal identification code, a memory (12) for code that defines the validity conditions and a memory (13) for specific data e.g. medical data. A second programme allows a user to enter a password that allows a new validity period for the card to be entered. The read /write unit is linked to a central station.
