Abstract:
A computer alert about DNA sequence markers is arranged, whereby the genome of a specific human subject is considered in view of a plurality of discrete rules to affect alerts generated and transmitted in electronic form over standardized e-mail systems (Internet/SMTP protocol for example) to a user workstation equipped with a browser or custom application. Alerting systems include mechanical/ chemical systems for analyzing a human DNA sample, producing a genomic data set representing genetic indicators or markers on alleles of interest including SNPs associated with important trial traits disease and characteristics. The genome dataset is stored as a portion of a data a record having a one-to-one correspondence with membership in a membership database. Dynamic rules provides a query engine with logic which can be executed against membership data stored in accordance with standardized database procedures to produce a genomic result set from which appropriate alerts may be formed.
Abstract:
A drug management system based upon membership genomic data is coupled to cooperating external computing systems via an object server which prepares drug use reports for automated delivery in response to results that data output from the member database. Based on rules stored in a rules library a query engine runs tests on the stored member genetic information to identify and meet specified criteria.
Abstract:
An ultrasound probe has a transducer array which is moved to scan a patient with ultrasonic energy. The array is located in a fluid chamber (42) which is enclosed by an acoustic window end cap (34). The acoustic window cap is coated with a thin conductive layer (38) which shields the transducer and its motive mechanism from EFI/RFI emissions. The conductive layer is coupled to a reference potential.
Abstract:
The invention provides a kit for making a picture frame comprising: a plurality of edge sections (1, 2, 3, 4) for forming into tubes and fixing in place so that each end of each tube is adjacent the end of another tube; a plurality of coupling sections (5, 6, 7, 8) for forming 3D couplers, wherein the 3D couplers can each be applied to two adjacent ends of two tubes to couple them together. There is also provided a picture frame and a method for making a picture frame.
Abstract:
Dual mode genetics testing systems are devised about a single element testing platform. A microfluidic network and system of interconnected receiving cells and reaction vessels supports at the same time genotyping and copy number analysis where the platform may be subject to a common thermal cycle schedule to cause the proper reactions (DNA replication) necessary in both test types. Further, the microfluidic platform which includes reaction vessels for genotyping which are spatially removed from reaction vessels for copy number analysis, is coupled to optical scanner and detection systems specifically arranged to apply test specific detection routines on each of these distinct regions or portions of the dual mode test platform.
Abstract:
A multimedia and entertainment system for an automobile is disclosed to include a plurality of loudspeakers located and distributed throughout the interior passenger compartment of the automobile. Loudspeakers of the conventional cone-type as well as electro-dynamic planar loudspeakers may be incorporated into the present invention. At least one loudspeaker is operably integrated within the passenger compartment of an automobile and is located in the proximity of a video display of the system. The electronic audio signal that serves the loudspeaker is processed in the audio system of the multimedia and entertainment system to optimize its full features and capabilities, including multi-audio-channel effects, so as to enable the passengers to completely experience the multimedia and entertainment system.
Abstract:
Biological sample collection kits are devised with physical features to enable a high performance collection system which delivers preprocessed biological matter via conventional shipping means to a testing laboratories. In particular, users deposit biological matter such as saliva or blood into a receiving vessel. By sealing the container, the user causes release of a premixed solution containing preservatives and optionally lysis reagents. In addition, a purification agent is arranged to bind to target molecules and facilitate their removal from solution. These time consuming processes occur while the sample is in transit to the testing facility such that when it arrives, it is in a preconditioned state immediately ready for execution of washing steps. Thus, the high performance containers taught herein are useful for collection biological samples and performing initial process steps on received matter - steps which are largely effected during the shipping stage of the transfer process.

The present invention provides azulenyl nitrones, such as those having the following general formula: (I) compositions comprising the same and methods of their use for the treatment or prevention of oxidative, ischemic, ischemia/reperfusion-related and chemokine-mediated conditions.
Abstract:
An intracavity ultrasound probe includes a pivotally mounted array transducer which is oscillated to scan a volumetric region from within the body. The transducer is oscillated by a motor located in the probe handle. The array transducer is immersed in a liquid which acoustically couples ultrasonic energy between the elements of the transducer and the body. The acoustic coupling liquid is located in the distal tip of the probe shaft, where only 6 cc of liquid is required. The small amount of liquid reduces the weight of the shaft of the probe so that the center of gravity of the probe is in the handle, making the probe comfortable and easy to manipulate. The majority of parts in the probe shaft are made of aluminum or other low density materials, keeping the overall weight of the probe to about 250 grams.

A spherificated dental medicament that includes an outer membrane containing calcium alginate and an internal core containing at least one of a mouth rinse, a mouthwash, a dental paste, and a dental gel, A method of making the spherificated dental medicament includes immersing a dental medicament composition into a solution containing either a soluble alginate or calcium salt, the dental medicament composition comprising a calcium salt or a soluble alginate and at least one of a mouth rinse, a mouthwash, a dental paste and a dental gel, and then removing the dental medicament composition from the solution following formation of a membrane around the dental medicament composition.
