Abstract:
This invention relates to a diluting and mixing device which is capable of diluting a first solution to produce a second solution which is mixed with an undiluted third solution, to reproducibly produce a unique series of combined solutions. Each solution in said series of combined solutions may vary only in the concentration of a single (selected) reactant, and typically, each successive solution becomes increasingly more concentrated in the selected reactant. By employing a modification in procedure, each successive solution in said series may become decreasingly less concentrated in the selected reactant. This invention further relates to an automated system comprising the device connected to a stepping motor so as to rapidly and reproducibly produce said series of solutions, said device being further connected to an analyzer means for obtaining chemical, biochemical, or physical chemical data on said series of solutions. This invention especially relates to an embodiment of the device for obtaining kinetic data on enzyme reactions in solutions. The device is useful because it provides a means for rapidly obtaining chemical, biochemical, or physical chemical data on reactions in solution.

Dispositif de dilution et de mélange permettant de diluer une première solution pour produire une deuxième solution qui est mélangée avec une troisième solution non diluée, afin de produire de façon reproductible une série unique de solutions combinées. La concentration de chaque solution de la série peut varier par rapport à un réactant unique (choisi) et, en particulier, chaque solution présente une concentration croissante par rapport à ce réactant. En modifiant la procédure, chaque solution successive de la série peut présenter une concentration décroissante par rapport au réactant choisi. L'invention se rapporte également à un système automatisé comprenant ledit dispositif asservi à un moteur pas-à-pas, de façon à produire lesdites séries de solutions rapidement et de façon reproductible, ledit dispositif étant en outre relié à des moyens d'analyse permettant d'obtenir des données chimiques, biochimiques ou physico-chimiques concernant ladite série de solutions. L'invention concerne en particulier une forme d'exécution du dispositif permettant d'obtenir des données cinétiques sur les réactions enzymatiques en solution. Le dispositif s'avère utile car il permet d'obtenir rapidement des données chimiques, biochimiques ou physico-chimiques sur les réactions en solution.
