    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use the device under a condition under which a patient has an embedment type electronic device and to execute sterilization inexpensively and sufficiently with a small size by providing the device with an electric stimulus generator circuit sufficient for charges to induce selected currents between the distal ends of a conductive layer and a needle cannula and the currents to induce an end shrinkage reaction at the time of positioning the needle to the patient's tissues. SOLUTION: An anesthesist or nurse anesthesist inserts the obliquely cut distal front end 24 of the needle cannula 20 made of a stainless steel into the patient's target nerve. Then, the anesthesist operates the on/off switch of a stimulator 14 so as to generate specified current pulses of low electric energy. The correct function of an electric stereotaxic apparatus 10 is checked that a flashing LED 50 generates the pulses of light simultaneously with the respective pulses of the energy. The high charge pulses generate the observable muscular simple shrinkage in a superficial position after penetration of the skin with the conductive layer of gold and may be observed at nearly coincident intervals.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a system to be used by a patient having a buried-type electronic device, to be small and inexpensive, to be used singly and sterilization possible and to be used by only one engineer. SOLUTION: A needle assembly 12 is included and the needle assembly is provided with a conductive needle canula 20, a non-conductive tube 28 fixed to it and a conductive plating 36 on the tube. A conductor is connected to a stimulator 14 which generates a high charge pulse and a low charge pulse which are changed by a fixed current level. The high charge pulse causes remarkable muscle contraction immediately after a needle is inserted to the patient. The extent of muscle contraction which responds to the high charge pulse becomes a peak, muscle contraction which responds to the low charge pulse becomes observation possible as the needle approaches to a nerve to be a target and it becomes discrimination impossible from muscle contraction which responds to the high charge pulse when the needle is positioned for giving a narcotic.

The high charge pulses generate noticeable muscle twitches immediately after insertion of the needle into the patient. Muscle twitches responsive to the high charge pulses will peak in magnitude, and muscle twitches responsive to the low charge pulses will become observable as the needle approaches the targeted nerve, and will be indistinguishable from the muscle twitches responsive to the high charge pulses when the needle is in a position for administration of anesthetic.
