    Abstract: The rigid shuttering unit (10) is moved along the trench as it is excavated, and the space behind the shuttering unit is filled with concrete. The shuttering unit comprises two side panels (11) joined by a transverse front wall (12) which is extended at the bottom by a skirt (14) in contact with the bottom of the trench. The rear edges of the side panels also have skirt extensions (13) which are applied elastically against the walls of the trench when concrete is injected under pressure between them. The shuttering unit is mounted on the rear of a machine (30,31) which is equipped with an excavating tool (32), and the concrete is injected through a tube with outlet nozzles. The side panel rear skirts are made from an elastomer, or metal strips.
