    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure high operating efficiency, high joining accuracy and sufficient joining strength by correcting the end face width, in the longer direction, of a sheetlike unvulcanized rubber to a specified shape and butting the end faces against each other and further, moving a pair of joint rollers in the width direction while making the joint rollers roll to bring the end faces into contact under pressure with each other. SOLUTION: A sheetlike material 2 extruded in such a state that a cord such as of steel wire or fiber is coated with rubber by a calender roll, is cut to an appropriate length, and the positions of the cut end faces in the longer direction are corrected using an end face position correcting device. Thus the sheetlike material 2 is wound around a molding drum 70, and the tip face and the rear end face of the material 2 are set opposite to each other. Further, the tip face and the rear end face are brought into contact under pressure with each other by joint units 92 of an end face pressure contact device 71. After that, the end faces thus forced into contact with each other are welded together by an ultrasonic wave to be applied by an ultrasonic wave welding device. When the end faces are brought into contact under pressure with each other, it is possible to ensure a gapless correct and highly efficient pressure contact and secure the high joining accuracy and sufficient joining strength of the end faces because the end faces are mutually corrected to the specified shape.

SOLUTION: In a device for cutting a band-like rubber material, when a motor 69 is operated so as to move a movable frame 26, a metal wire 53 and a running means 69 in the substantially widthwise direction of the band-like rubber member 16 while a motor 54 is operated so as to run the metal wire 53 at a high speed in the longitudinal direction, the band-like rubber member 16 is cut by the metal wire 53. Since the band-like rubber member 16 is cut by the thin metal wire 53, the contact area between the band-like rubber member 16 and the metal wire 53 is extremely small, thereby it is possible to simply and surely cut the band-like rubber member.
