Abstract:
Tyre containing cords made of crosslinked poly(vinyl alcohol) filaments. The casing and the belt of a tyre can be reinforced by employing a cord of filaments made of synthetic fibres of crosslinked, high-strength poly(vinyl alcohol), the cord having a wear resistance (S/d) satisfying the equation: S >/= 14.5 - 12 N gamma where N gamma is a torsion coefficient, when a test is performed on the cord withdrawn from the tyre, this cord containing at least 5 % by weight of a component which is insoluble in dimethyl sulphoxide at 120 DEG C. Application: increasing the durability of tyres for passenger vehicles.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire is reinforced with cords made of polyvinyl alcohol based fibers, and meets the following requirements: (1) A tenacity, S (g/d) of the cords taken out from the tire meets a relation: S>/=14.5-12NT in which NT is a coefficient of twist, which is represented by NT=Nx 2ROOT 0.139xD/ rho x10-3. N, D and rho are a number of twist (turns/10 cm), a half of a total denier of the cords, and a specific density of the cords, respectively. (2) A tenacity-retaining percentage of the cords in an absolutely dried state is not less than 90% of that before the treatment with boiling water. The absolutely dried state means that after the cord is treated with boiling water at 120 DEG C. while being maintained at a constant length, the cord is dried.
Abstract:
Nylon cords having a yarn strength of not less than 12 g/d are subjected to a stretch heating treatment under specified conditions before the dipping and then dipped in a dipping solution having a particular composition, whereby the strength and adhesion force of the resulting dipped cords are considerably improved for use in large size tires.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive liquid for a rubber-reinforcing cord having remarkably suppressed smoke evolution and decreased resorcinol monomer content while keeping the adhesion performance. SOLUTION: The adhesive liquid for a rubber-reinforcing cord contains a resorcinol-formaldehyde novolak condensate produced by reacting resorcinol with formaldehyde in water in the presence of a molecular weight modifier and an acidic catalyst and having an unreacted resorcinol monomer content of ≤15 mass%. The novolak condensate is preferably produced by reacting resocinol with formaldehyde in water in the presence of a molecular weight modifier and an acidic catalyst and washing the precipitated condensate with a resocinol washing liquid. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire which is light in weight and excels in handling stability, vibrational riding comfortability and road noise control performance. SOLUTION: Characteristics of this tire are that it possesses belt layers and belt-reinforcing layers arranged outside the belt layers in the radial direction of the tire, that cords embedded in the belt layers consist of polyester-type monofilament cords, and that the cords embedded in the belt-reinforcing layers consisting of polyester-type twisted cords.

PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of the strength of a dip cord and the lowering of the adhesive strength of cord and rubber, by heat-treating a twist cord of super-strong 6-nylon fiber under specific condition under tension and applying an adhesive to the cord. CONSTITUTION:A twist cord (composed of 6-nylon fiber having a stock fiber strength of >=12g/d) is treated in a stretch heat-treatment zone 1 under a condition satisfying the formula T>=84/S-80 [T is temperature ( deg.C) and S is tension (g/d)] and then subjected to dip treatment. The dipping liquid satisfies the relationship of y>=-0.75x-0.274Z +4.282Z+16.8 [x is solid content (wt.%) in the dipping liquid; y is ratio (wt.%) of the total weight of resorcinol and formaldehyde to the latex in the dipping liquid; Z is ratio (wt.%) of vinylpyridine latex based on the total weight of vinylpyridine latex and styrene butadiene copolymer latex in the latex of the dipping liquid].
