Abstract:
Enzyme-treated papermaking sludges are provided, as are methods of making the enzyme-treated sludge. Papermaking processes that incorporate the enzyme-treated papermaking sludges into papermaking pulp are also provided as are paper and paperboard products made from the resultant pulp.
Abstract:
Methods of making paper or paperboard are described. In one method, at least one cellulytic enzyme composition and at least one cationic polymer composition are introduced to a paper making pulp at about the same time to form a treated pulp. The pulp may also be treated with at least one cationic starch. The resulting pulp is formed into a sheet of pulp. Other paper making processes are also described. A paper making apparatus is also described for carrying out the methods. Paper and paperboard made according to the methods are also described.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a creped fiber web is provided and includes providing a rotating cylindrical dryer surface, applying an ionene adhesive to the rotating cylindrical dryer surface to form an adhesive dryer surface, conveying a fiber web to the adhesive dryer surface, drying the fiber web on the adhesive dryer surface to form a dried fiber web, and creping the dried fiber web from the adhesive dryer surface. The ionene polymer can be a crosslinked polymer of an alkylamine, a haloepoxyalkane, and an amine that differs from the alkylamine, such as a terpolymer of dimethylamine, epichlorohydrin, and ethylenediamine. The ionene adhesive may further includ e monoammonium phosphate. The ionene polymer may be water-soluble and cationic .

Abstract:
ASA sizing emulsions are described, as well as emulsifying agents containing starch and a terpolymer of acrylamide/quaternary ammonium compound/glyoxal, and an ASA blend that contains ASA and a co-surfactant blend of anionic surfactant and nonionic surfactant. Processes for sizing paper products with the emulsions are also described.
