Abstract:
Reaction products of alkali-metal salts of dithiocarbamic acid, of N-C1 to C5 alkyl, and N,N''-C2 to C4 alkylenebisdithiocarbamic acids with aldehydes and ammonia or primary amines and diamines are new compounds which are useful as bactericides, fungicides, algicides, nematocides, and soil fumigants in industry and agriculture.

HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT IONENE POLYMERIC COMPOSITIONS ARE PREPARED BY REACTING A DIHALO ORGANIC COMPOUND WITH A SECONDARY OR A DITERTIARY AMINE AND THEN REACTING THE RESULTANT PRODUCT WITH A POLYMERIC BACKBONE COMPOSITION AND A COUPLING AGENT. THE RESULTING POLYMERS HAVE UTILITY IN MANY DIVERSE APPLICATIONS.

Abstract:
Dimethylaminomethylenebis(phosphonic acid) is prepared by reacting dimethylformamide with phosphorous trichloride and treating the reaction mixture with alcohols or glycols and water. The phosphonic acid is combined with water soluble carboxylic acid polymers for use as a corrosion and scale inhibitor in aqueous systems. These compositions may also be combined with phosphorous acid and water soluble zinc salts.
