Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substitutional method for modifying poly(meth)acrylates.SOLUTION: The method for transesterifying or esterifying side chains in polymers comprises the following steps (a) and (b): (a) a process for producing copolymer which is obtained by polymerizing (aa) at least one (meth)acrylates of general formula (I) [chemical formula 1] as component A, and (ab) at least one monomer of general formula (II) [chemical formula 2] as component B, and (b) a process for transesterifying or esterifying the carboxyl group containing the radical Rwith an alcohol in the presence of an enzyme catalyzing the transesterification or esterification.
