Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glycine-N,N-derivative I and a salt thereof with an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, an ammonium or a substituted ammonium group. SOLUTION: This method comprises (A) reacting a disubstituted glycine or a disubstituted glycine nitrile or a dimeric glycine of formula (1) or a dimeric glycine nitrile of formula (2) with formaldehyde and hydrogen cyanide or an alkali metal cyanide or (B) reacting iminodiacetic acid, iminodiacetonitrile with a monoaldehyde or a dialdehyde of formula: OHC-A-CHO and hydrogen cyanide or an alkali metal cyanide, and subsequently hydrolyzing the remaining nitrile groups into carboxy groups.
