Abstract: A pylon assembly (100) for a tiltrotor aircraft (10) includes a rotor assembly (102) operable to rotate between a generally vertical orientation, in a VTOL flight mode, and a generally horizontal orientation, in a forward flight mode, and having an intermediate orientation therebetween, in a conversion flight mode. The rotor assembly (102) includes a proprotor (112) operable to produce a slipstream. A wing extension (104), positioned outboard of the rotor assembly (102), has a minimal dimension and an outboard end. A winglet (106) is coupled to the outboard end of the wing extension (104) and has a minimal dimension. The wing extension (104) and the winglet (106) are operable to rotate generally with the rotor assembly (102) such that the minimal dimensions of the wing extension (104) and the winglet (106) remain in the slipstream of the proprotor.
