In this way, dust particles and air bubbles in ink are removed without allowing ink to flow out of the discharge ports (15) of the recording head so as to save the consumption of ink to be used wastefully when a recovery operation is executed for the apparatus.

Further, ink leader retaining sections 35a, 35b, provided with a multitude of slits 36 for retaining the retaining part of the ink leader member on the peripheral surface of the frame type retaining sections, are formed on the outside of the ink sheet leader wound members 34a, 34b to pinch the rear end of the retaining section of the ink leader member and prevent the unwinding of the ink leader member by the own force of the same.

When a rectangular pawl section 60a and the engaging pawl 34a are engaged, the take-up reel driving shaft 60 is slid in the longitudinal direction because there is a clearance between the end face 60b of the pawl section 60a and the end face 62b of a bearing 62 even when the rectangular pawl section 60a and the engaging pawl 34a are abutted, and the driving shaft 60 is rotated in a trace quantity in the direction of rotation, thus slipping off abutting and engaging the driving shaft 60.
