Abstract: This invention provides an ink for an ink jet recording method in which an ink is ejected from a recording head through the action of thermal energy. This ink can improve ejection stability and further can realize high storage stability and color developing properties. The ink is characterized in that the ink contains a pigment represented by general formula (1), a dispersant, a water-soluble organic compound, and a coagulation inhibiting substance capable of inhibiting coagulation after dispersion and breaking of the pigment and the content (% by mass) of the coagulation inhibiting substance based on the total mass of the ink is not less than 0.4 time and less than 1.3 times the content (% by mass) of the pigment based on the total mass of the ink.
