    Abstract: An ink-jet printing method, an ink-jet printing apparatus and an ink-jet printing system are proposed, which are free from the deterioration of color development effect even if a plurality of color inks are used, caused by the overlap of different color inks on a printing medium. For this purpose, when density data quantized to several ranks are converted finally to binary data by using predetermined dot arrangement patterns, a dot arrangement pattern different from those for other color inks is prepared for a particular color ink. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce as much as possible the probability in that the particular color ink is overlapped with the other inks on the printing medium, whereby the color development of the particular color ink is effectively facilitated.

    Abstract: An ink jet printing apparatus forms an image on a print medium (1) by making a print head carry out a plurality of scan motions over the print medium and by moving the print medium and the print head relative to each other a width of a predetermined area in a direction different from a direction of the scan motion of the print head. The print head has an array of a plurality of nozzle rows (11Lm,11R,11Bk,11G,11Lc,11C,11M,11Y) corresponding to the required number of colors of ink to be ejected. Each nozzle row includes a plurality of nozzles. The ink jet printing apparatus can select one print mode among a plurality of print modes including a monochrome print mode and a color print mode. The monochrome print mode uses a plurality of colors of ink including a black ink, and the color print mode uses a number of colors of ink greater than in the monochrome print mode. The scan motion of the print head and the movement of the print medium and the print head relative to each other are controlled according to the selected print mode so that the scan motions with ink ejection being carried out both in a first and second directions of the scan motion when the color print mode is selected, and the scan motions with ink ejection are carried out only in the first direction of the direction of the scan motion when the monochrome print mode is selected.

Then, between the nozzle rows for these two colors, at least two nozzle rows for other colors are arranged so that the first nozzle row for the two colors have a large inter-nozzle-row distance. Then, the resulting print head is used for printing. If cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, and black are used as ink colors, the light cyan, black, yellow, and light magenta inks are arranged between the cyan and magenta inks, having a large hue difference.
