Abstract: There is provided an image input apparatus which can quickly and easily move a camera head to a position that the operator intended, can adequately adjust the position of the camera head, can improve operability in the document photographing mode, and is easy to carry. The image input apparatus has a camera head (2) for inputting an image, support members (5, 6) coupled via a plurality of joint portions (4, 11, 12, 15, 16) so as to be able to support the camera head (2), and a base (14) for supporting the proximal end side of the support members (5, 6). When an image is input by the camera head (2), the camera head (2) can be held at a predetermined position and posture by each of the plurality of joint portions (4, 11, 12, 15, 16). A pivot support mechanism arranged between a camera unit and a support portion has a first support member (6) having two opposing projections (107), a second support member (8) arranged between the two projections (107), a pair of clamping members (104) arranged to clamp the two projections (107) between the second support member (8) and themselves, and a torque generation mechanism (102, 104, 105) for generating a torque between the second support member (8), the clamping members (104), and the projections (107). A pivot support mechanism arranged between a support portion and a base has a first support member (112, 113) having two opposing projections, a second support member 111 which is a planar member having a U-shaped section, and has two end portions respectively engaging with the two projections and a coupling portion for coupling these two end portions, and a torque generation mechanism (114, 116, 118, 119) arranged between the first and second support members (111, 112, 113). An opening portion through which the cable extends is formed on the coupling portion.

Abstract: This invention provides an image input apparatus which allows easy positioning between an original and a camera head and can improve operability in a document photographing mode. An image signal obtained by an image pickup unit is input to the apparatus main body, and the signal processing of the input signal is performed. The apparatus has a camera head arranged at the distal end side of columns coupled via a plurality of joint portions, a signal processing unit incorporated in a base of the apparatus main body that supports the proximal end side of the columns, and a cable which is arranged along the columns and connects the camera head and the signal processing unit. When an image signal is input from the camera head to the signal processing unit, the optical axis direction of the camera head and its angle about the optical axis are adjustable via the joint portions. When the angles defined between the joint portions are set to be 90 DEG , the input image size can be set to be A4 size. The camera head has a lens portion which allows a rotation operation, and an index that can indicate its rotation operation state is arranged at an appropriate position on the outer surface of the lens portion. The column is supported by the base via a third joint portion, a bottom plate and a weight are electrically connected to each other, and a signal processing circuit board is arranged between the bottom plate and the weight. An index indicating the direction of the camera head with respect to the base is arranged at least at the center of the front surface of the base. The apparatus is arranged so that the route of the cable does not interfere with the pivot axes of the respective joint portions when the cable is laid.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably obtain the relation between equipments for protecting a photographing optical system and the opening and closing operation of a barrier by operating a barrier driving system at the time of a photographing mode and a controllable mode and keeping the barrier in an opened state. SOLUTION: When the mode is the REC (recording) one after detecting the change-over of a mode dial 7, the barrier 8 is opened and photographing is executed. During photographing, the barrier 8 is kept in the opened state. When the mode is changed-over into the LOCK one after that, the barrier 8 is closed, a power source is turned off and photographing is ended. Besides, when the mode is the PC one after detecting the change-over of the mode dial 7, the barrier 8 is opened and becomes in a state where control from an outside is received. Even when an image is exchanged or photographing is executed, the barrier 8 is opened during that time. Then, the mode is changed-over into the LOCK one, the barrier 8 is closed, the power source is turned-off and photographing is ended.
