Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process for producing a color filter substrate for picture device constructed by selectively arranging light-shielding members and a plurality of coloring members different in spectral characteristics from each other on a transparent base, which comprises the steps of forming a water-repellent layer composed of a silane coupling agent on the base on which the light-shielding members are partially formed, exposing the surface of the base to oxygen plasma, and arranging a plurality of the coloring members different in spectral characteristics from each other on transparent regions of the base.

Abstract: An electrode plate, suitable for constituting a liquid crystal device, includes at least a light-transmissive substrate (6a,6b), a plurality of metal electrodes (8a,8b) disposed on the light-transmissive substrate and in contact with transparent electrodes (9a,9b) and with spacings therebetween, and an insulating layer (7) disposed at the spacings. Each of the metal electrodes (8a,8b) includes a first layer (11a,11b), disposed on the light-transmissive substrate comprising a metal or alloy selected from the group consisting of titanium, chronium, molybdenum, tungsten, aluminum, tantalum and nickel, a second layer (12a,12b) comprising copper or silver dispersed on the first layer; and a third layer (13a,13b) comprising a metal or alloy selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten, titanium, chromium, nickel, aluminum and zinc and disposed on the second layer. The electrode plate is effective in providing a liquid crystal device with good display qualities, a durability and a productivity through improvements in an adhesiveness to the light-transmissive substrate and an antioxidizing property of the metal electrodes.

The probe medium is produced by a process which comprises the step of preparing the probe, a substance having a site capable of binding to the probe and a substance having a site capable of binding to the surface of the base material, the step of packing solutions respectively containing the substances having the binding sites in containers, and the step of mixing the probe with the substances having the binding sites in the course of fixing the probe on the base material.
