Abstract: The present inventions allow the detection of ink in the printing head by significantly simplified their configurations and on which various printing systems can be widely applied. There are a heater (101) for supplying an energy to ejecting ink, a driver (102) for driving heater (101), and a detection electrode (118) capable of detecting a voltage variation between the heater (101) and the driver (102) to be occurred depending on the driving of the heater (101). Furthermore, an insulating film (410) that covers the surface of the detection electrode (118) prevents a chemical or physical change from the detection electrode (118). Furthermore, a reference element group or a reference unit that produces a signal as a reference of the detection signal avoids the influence of noise. Furthermore, an energy-generating element (101) and another signal source (101) improve the accuracy of ink-detection. A drive pulse which is insufficient to ejecting ink may be supplied to the heater (101) to improve the accuracy of ink-detection.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering ejection for an inkjet recorder capable of improving a throughput of image recording by suppressing deterioration of a condition of an image recorded on a recording medium, of lowering the running cost and the power consumption, and of extending a life of a heater. SOLUTION: There is disclosed the inkjet recorder that performs the recording by ejecting ink to a recording medium from a recording means having a plurality of inkjet nozzles. In the case where there occurs on a nozzle defective ejection which can be recovered by performing one or more times of driving as in the recording, the number of times of the driving of the nozzle necessary for the recovery is determined based on a predicted number of times judged by a plurality of conditions, and then the driving is performed with the determined number of times on the recording medium during the recording operation. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for refilling a liquid in which the liquid can be accurately refilled in a liquid tank used in a liquid jet apparatus or the like regardless of a remaining amount of the liquid and without requiring complicate control and constitution at the refilling time. SOLUTION: There are provided a liquid extraction means for extracting the liquid remaining in the liquid tank 1 from a liquid take-out port 4 through which the liquid is supplied to a liquid discharge head, means for reducing a pressure inside the liquid tank 1 after the liquid is extracted through the liquid take-out port 4, and filling means for filling a liquid in a supplementary liquid tank 11 from the liquid take-out port 4 to the liquid tank 1 with the utilization of a pressure difference between the supplementary liquid tank 11 and the liquid tank 1. The liquid remaining in the liquid tank 1 is once extracted through the liquid take-out port 4. The pressure of the liquid tank 1 after the liquid is extracted is reduced through the liquid take-out port 4. The liquid is refilled from the liquid take-out port 4 with the utilization of the pressure difference between the liquid tank 1 and the replenishment liquid tank 11.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet head in which the quantity of ink, especially presence of ink, can be detected accurately in units of nozzle through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: Variation of potential in ink on a protective film, i.e., an upper insulating layer, of heaters 101 in a nozzle occurring upon driving the heaters through a driver 102 is detected at an electrode 118 where the potential variation is detected through ink. In such an arrangement, similar detection mechanisms (401, 402, 418) are provided, as references, at positions where ink exists without fail and a decision is made whether ink is present or not based on the difference (407) between a detection signal from the detection mechanism and a detection signal obtained through the electrode 118. According to the arrangement, effect of noise can be removed in the detection.
