Abstract: A method of reducing the kogation of the surface of the heater of a recording head for applying thermal energy to the ink in the recording head in order to discharge the ink from the recording head can effectively reduce the kogation to make it possible to print high quality images and prolong the service life of the recording head. With the method of reducing the kogation of the surface of the heater of the ink-jet recording head of an ink-jet printer, the ink-jet recording head is provided with a heater for applying thermal energy to ink in order to discharge ink from an orifice and the heater has a top surface protecting layer containing a metal and/or a metal oxide, while the ink is adapted to ink-jet recording and contains (a) a coloring material, (b) a liquid medium and (c) diglycollic acid or iminodiacetic acid or salts thereof.

Abstract: An ink jet printing method makes it possible to prevent bleeding, which may take place if non-permeative ink of different colors are in contact themselves with each other on a paper sheet, by selecting according to image information either a step A of providing a processing liquid, at first, in the area on a printing material for images to be printed thereon, and then, providing such ink or a step B of providing such ink, at first, in the area on the printing material for images to be printed thereon, and then, providing such liquid.

Abstract: Each of pixels (No. 1 to N) of recorded image is formed by a plurality of dots composed with ink droplets ejected from a plurality of different orifices (No. 1 to M) at individual different main-scannings (No. 1, 2, 3 and so on). With this recording process, the variation of ink ejection characteristics between a plurality of orifices in a recording head can be reduced in forming pixels.

Abstract: A fluid ejection head comprises a heater (5) in a face within a fluid path (1). A bubble is generated by suppling electric power to the heater (5), and ink is ejected almost in a direction parallel to a face of the heater (5). The fluid path (1) further comprises a first part having a constant-section area being adjacent to an ejection orifice (2) a second part which exists behind the first part containing the heater, the cross-section area of the second part increasing by twice as large as the cross-section area of the ejection orifice (2), a length (A) between an end of the first part and a top end of the heater (5) is greater than or equal to a half of a height Ph of the ejection orifice.
