    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable prevention of sheet discoloration or crease generation even when printing is suspended halfway with sheets still set in place or held up by detecting the holding-up of sheets on a fixing heater for more than a set time and ejecting them when such a condition occurs. CONSTITUTION:A timer 28 counts time spent from a moment when the tip of recording sheet 5 arrives at a fixing heater 6 to every moment When the recording sheet 5 continues to be held up on the fixing heater 6, and transmits the time to CPU 21 sequentially. When next character data no longer exists halfway through printing process or the transmission of character data is stopped from a host 30 to suspend a printing action temporarily, or the printing action comes to a standstill for any other reasons, the hold-up time of the sheet 5 on the fixing heater 6 is detected by the timer 28, if the sheet 5 is held up on the fixing heater 6. Then a sheet feed roller 1 is caused to rotate by CPU 21 via an LFM(sheet feed motor) driver 32 and an LF(line feed) motor 33 when the holdup time reaches a set value.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease malreception by providing a hollow tube inserted slidably to a main body and the carriage of a recorder and using the hollow tube so as to shut the optical path from other lights. CONSTITUTION:In front of a paper feeding roller 1, a carriage 2 moved in parallel therewith is provided, the roller 1 is driven by a paper feedmotor 3 and the carriage 2 is reciprocated by a belt transmission mechanism 5. An optical transmission section 8 receives a data signal from a main card 6, converts it into an optical data and sends the result to the carriage 2. The hollow tubes 9, 10 being the path of an optical signal are fitted together slidably, the carriage 2 is moved from the right to the left, both the hollow tubes 9, 10 are fitted and while the carriage is placed to the left, the optical path is shut from the surrounding. The detection signal of a carriage position detector 11 detecting the shut start position is sent to a CPU in a main card 6. Based on the detection signal, the CPU controls that the data signal is sent to the head control section 7 of the carriage 2 while the optical path is shut.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely recognize a long vowel and to make possible inputting a text of Japanese or English with a voice by using a syllable dictionary adding the long vowel to a syllable, comparing an inputted voice with the syllable dictionary and recognizing the input voice containing the long vowel. SOLUTION: The voice inputted from a microphone 100 is inputted to an AD converter 300 to be sampled, and the data sampled at every stop uttered at an interval are stored in a voice buffer 400. Then, the unit voice data are read out, and by comparing them with the standard voice data registered in a kana (Japanese syllabary) dictionary 500, the inputted voice data are recognized, and the kana data are temporarily decided. This kana dictionary 500 stores all of hiraganas (Japanese cursive syllabary), all phonemes adding voiced sounds, the p-sounds and contracted sounds in the kana syllabary and contracted sounds, and the kanas adding double consonants and the long vowels to these all phonemes. The temporarily decided kanas are displayed on a display 750, and at this time, an operator recognizes the displayed kanas to perform revision processing.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a recording sheet caused by the long- time contact with a heater, by providing a control means for making the surface humidity of the heater lower than that at the time of usual recording provided that the recording sheet is present on the heater for a definite time or more. CONSTITUTION:A thermistor 40 changes in its internal resistance corresponding to heat-sensitive temp. and generates a change in the voltage dividing ratio with a resistor 41. The terminal voltage VIN of the resistor 41 becomes the input voltages of comparators 42, 43 to be compared with the reference voltages Vref1, Vref2 of reference power supplies 44, 45. The reference voltage Vref1 is set to VIN=Vref1 at heater set temp. T1 at a usual printing time and the reference voltage Vref2 is set to VIN=Vref2 at the heater set temp. T2 when recording paper is present on a printing platen for a definite time or more and, herein, T1>T2 and Vref1>Vref2 are set. A thyristor 55 is made operable or inoperable based upon the comparing result of VIN and Vref2 to control the temp. of a heater 11 so as to hold the same to a set value T2. Even when the recording paper 9 is present on the heater 11, temp. can be lowered and the deformation of the recording paper 9 is suppressed to the min.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a printed image to be dried at an early timing even when printing with a high dot density is performed by providing a fixing heater which heats a recorded sheet and expedites the drying of ink, and driving the heater at high temperature when high density printing is performed and driving the heater at low temperature when printing density is not high. CONSTITUTION:Various data is sent from a host computer 30 through a data receiving part, and thereby a recording mechanism consisting of a recording head 4, a sheet transport motor 33, a carriage motor 35 and a fixing heater 6 is controlled by CPU according to the various data. In addition, a fixing heater control part 28 controls the fixing heater 6 through a heater driver 36. Then when a high density printing command such as a letter quality printing command is issued, the fixing heater control part 28 drives the fixing heater 6 at high temperature (e.g. set temperature -80 deg.C). When a high density printing command such as draft printing (low density printing) is not issued, the control part drives the fixing heater 6 at low temperature (e.g. set temperature-60 deg.C) or stops the drive.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a malfunction that is caused when the noise is put on a signal line or a power supply is applied, by invalidating the strobe signal and then the data in case the time width of the strobe signal is out of a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:The output of an OR circuit 6-5 is inputted to an R-S flip-flop F/F6-6 and this F/F6-6 is set in case a strobe signal 2 is out of a range 0.5-500muS. The output signal CO of the F/F6-6 is sent to a control circuit 7. If the abnormality of the signal 2 is decided, the circuit 7 decides that both the signal 2 and a data signal 1 are invalid. Then the signal CL is outputted to reset the F/F6-6 for detection of the next strobing signal. The F/F6-6 is reset by the signal CL.
