    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer having a small print head performing scanning operation independently without being coupled with an ink supply tube and extremely advantageous for reducing the size of an apparatus. SOLUTION: A print head unit 2 has four slit-like liquid receiving/supplying openings 16 in the upper surface thereof and connected with the control section in the apparatus body through a flexible signal cable 7. It is engaged with the linear rail 8 of a head drive mechanism 3 and reciprocated in the main scanning direction shown y an arrow A by means of a coil 13 at the time of printing. An ink tank unit 6 having an inner chamber 34 for containing ink liquids of yellow, magenta, cyan and black and is arranged fixedly on the frame of the apparatus body and a liquid supply opening having a micropump is provided in the lower surface at a position other than the print area. When ink in the print head unit 2 runs out, the print head unit 2 stops at a position facing the liquid supply opening and a unit 5 for opening/closing the supply opening moves to open the liquid supply opening thus supplying ink to the liquid receiving/supplying openings 16 through the micropump.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to arrange wirings for connecting recording electrodes and record signal generating means with a density lower than a density of a parallel arrangement of the recording electrodes by arranging in parallel and in string form a plurality of recording electrodes on a narrow end part on a substrate whose widths at both end parts vary consisting of a flexible insulating material, and combining a plurality of flexible circuit boards on which the record signal generating means is mounted in a manner connectable with these recording electrodes electrically on a wide end part. CONSTITUTION:A recording electrode sheet 17 is constituted by combining two split electrode sheets 17A and 17B. The split electrode sheets 17A and 17B are respectively constituted of flexible printed circuit boards whose both end parts are different in width. On narrow end parts of the split electrode sheets 17A and 17B, a number of recording electrodes 17a are arranged in parallel at a fine pitch corresponding to an image density to be obtained so as to form split electrode strings ERp respectively. Here, the recording electrode 17a consisting of a number of man-magnetic conductive materials a is patterned with etching processing in parallel on a flexible insulating film 17b, for example, at a pitch of 84.6mum by keeping an interval of 40mum.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably form a satisfactory image having a high degree of resolution and a high density by forming the entire peripheral surface of a recording electrode which extends at a recording position nearest to an opposed electrode, from a magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A recording electrode EL is a double structure in which a recording electrode wire 17a made of nonmagnetic materials has an exposed peripheral surface that is coated thereover with a magnetic layer 17d made of magnetic conductive materials. In this arrangement in which the entire exposed peripheral surface of the recording electrode EL is coated with the magnetic layer 17d, substantially wall magnetic force lines generated at the outer surface of a developing sleeve 15 are converged to the recording electrode EL and are regulated so as to extend toward a cylindrical electrode 5. As a result, magnetic toner (d) forms chains along the converged magnetic force lines, and are bundled onto the recording electrode EL, that is, the toner chains which extends toward the cylindrical electrode 5 in order are formed. Thereby it is possible to stably form a recorded clear toner image having a high degree of resolution and a high density.

An AC bias power supply 5a capable of outputting AC bias voltage obtained by superposing AC voltage on DC voltage of negative polarity is connected to the cylindrical electrode 5 The position W where the peripheral surface of a developing sleeve 15 most approaches the peripheral surface of the cylindrical electrode 5 so as to hold a minute gap on the downstream side of a doctor blade 12a becomes a recording position and the magnetic toner (d) transferred to the position is selectively transferred to the peripheral surface of the cylindrical electrode 5 corresponding to recording data to form a toner recording image. The minute gap at the recording position W is desirably set to 100mum or less.

Thus, normal paper can be utilized and a bright image of the high resolution can also be obtained.

Accordingly, switches 4en are controlled to be opened or closed in response to a print signal to form an electric field in the opposing part (intersection point) between linear electrodes 4bn and the fixed electrode 5a, toner charged in - polarity on the surface of the toner conveyor 6 is transferred along the lines of electric force on paper P to be conveyed in a direction of an arrow (b) to print one dot. In this case, since a bias voltage having the same polarity as toner charging polarity is applied to the fixed electrode 5a, a strong electric field force is obtained, and the toner can be transferred rapidly and strongly on the paper P.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably form a sharp and good image on plain paper by simple structure by opposing a plurality of spiral signal electrodes to which a printing signal is inputted to a single common electrode in parallel so as to cross said common electrode and passing a toner carrier through this electrode opposed part while feeding recording paper between the toner carrier and the spiral signal electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Five switches 4e1 - 4e5 are controlled so as to be opened and closed corresponding to a printing signal and output voltage of negative polarity is selectively applied to each of linear electrodes 4bn by a high voltage power supply 4f. By this method, an electric field is formed to the opposed part of each of the linear electrodes 4bn and a fixed electrode 5a. The negatively charged toner on the surface of a toner carrier 6 is transferred to the paper fed in the direction shown by an arrow (x) along the line of electric force of said electric field to print one dot. In this case, since auxiliary electrodes 5c, 5c are parallelly provided on both sides of the fixed electrode 5a and the same high voltage as each linear electrode 4b is applied to the respective electrodes 5c, 5c, the line of electric field between each of the linear electrodes 4bn and the fixed electrode 5 is throttled to become an almost straight line state. As a result, a dot can be sharply formed and a sharper image can be obtained.

CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric sensor 19 is disposed on a toner carrying path side part in the vicinity of the upstream side in the toner carrying direction of the recording part W where a recording electrode EL is adjacently opposed on the periphery of a cylindrical electrode 5. A carrying quantity adjusting member 17 turning a regulating plate 17a to change a regulating gap G and adjusting the quantity of the developer carried to the recording part W, is provided on the upstream side of the piezoelectric sensor 19. The carrying quantity adjusting member 17 is timely operated according to the detection value of the piezoelectric sensor 19 by a developer carrying control circuit element not shown by a figure, so that the regulating gap G is adjusted, and the quantity of magnetic toner stayed in the vicinity of the upstream side of the recording part W, within a proper range, is controlled.
