Abstract: When resin in a treatment vessel becomes exhausted to the point of requiring regeneration, the resin is discharged into containers which are transported to a regeneration station. At the same time, the treatment vessel is reloaded with fresh resin returned in containers after processing at the regeneration station. Pref. each container has a resin capacity equal to that of a treatment vessel. Containers should be standardised for easy handling and stacking. The treatment vessel, the transport containers and the regeneration vessel are pref. fitted with low level, compressed air inlets to fluidise resin to be transferred out by suction pump. Used for regeneration of ion exchange resins employed in the treatment of industrial waste water, partic. effluent from electroplating and other metal surface finishing processes. The treatment vessel does not have to come off stream for the duration of a regeneration cycle. Instead, the only time lost is the brief period required to exchange spent resin for resin returned from a regeneration station. The regeneration station benefits from large-scale operation in handling resin from a group of treatment stations.
