Abstract:
A method of delivering content in one or more packets over a network is described. A content request packet comprising a request for content based on a first IPv6 address is received, the first IPv6 address identifying the content. The first IPv6 address is mapped to a second IPv6 address, the second IPv6 address being associated with the content at a physical location. The content requested in the content request packet is then received from the physical location associated with the second IPv6 address for delivery to a user. A further method includes routing a packet for requesting the content from a client to a content server storing an instant of the content, based on an IPv6 address of content being requested by the client. A communication session is then set up between the client and the content server; and the requested content is transmitted from the content server.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for delivering requested content over a network is described. The method includes receiving, by a first network node, a request from a second network node for the requested content, the request comprising an IPv6 address associated with the requested content. A longest prefix match is then performed between the IPv6 address associated with the requested content and IPv6 addresses associated with content available at the first network node. In the event that the longest prefix match does not result in an exact match between the IPv6 address associated with the requested content and any of the IPv6 addresses associated with content available at the first network node, the request is routed towards a content variant suitable for transcoding to the requested content, the content variant being stored at the first network node.
Abstract:
A method of routing a packet in a network is described. The network includes a plurality of nodes implementing Information Centric Networking (ICN) routing or content centric networking and routing. The method includes receiving the packet at a node implementing ICN routing, the packet comprising an Internet Protocol (IP) header and a packet payload, wherein the packet comprises a request packet for requesting content from the network. The method further includes extracting from the packet payload a content identifier for the requested content and forwarding the packet to a next hop node in the network based on the content identifier extracted from the packet payload.

Abstract:
A method of streaming media content over a network from a media cache node is described. The method includes receiving a request for a media content item from a client device, the request comprising an address identifying a media content item to be streamed. In response to the request, a streaming engine process is allocated to the media content item for fulfilling the request. Based on the address identifying the media content item, a location comprising a media cache node able to provide the media content item is determined and the media content item is streamed to the client device using the streaming engine process allocated to the media content item. Further methods of streaming a media content item and providing access to media content are also described.
Abstract:
A method of retrieving content in an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) network is described, including receiving from a network node a lookup request associated with content at a server comprising a mapping database. A response is generated including an IPv6 address, the IPv6 address comprising a content identifier and an indication of a location of the content. The response is transmitted to the network node. A method including receiving at a mapping database a lookup request associated with content and returning a text record comprising an ordered list of addresses for use in segment routing to the content is also described.
Abstract:
A method of enabling access to content in a network implementing Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is described, the method including accessing a content addressing file including entries each comprising a content portion location associated with the content portion. The content portion location associated with the content portion is extracted for an entry and, based on the content portion location, a section of an IPv6 address for the content portion is formed. Methods of addressing content for storage and retrieving content are also described.
Abstract:
Techniques for provisioning multicast chains in a cloud-based environment are described herein. In an embodiment, a system sends a model of an application comprising sources, destinations, and virtualized appliances for initiation by host computers to a software- defined networking (SDN) controller. The SDN controller determines locations for the virtualized appliances and generates an updated model of the application, the updated model comprising the locations for the virtualized appliances. The SDN controller sends the updated model to the orchestration system. The orchestration system uses the updated model to generate a mapping of virtualized appliances to available host computers. Using the mapping of virtualized appliances to available host computers, the orchestration system sends instructions for initiating the virtualized appliances on the available host computers to one or more cloud management systems.

Abstract:
According to one aspect, a method includes obtaining a packet at a network endpoint from a client via a first segment. The packet has a segment routing header that includes a list of addresses attached to a chunk entry, and is configured to identify at least a first chunk requested by the client. The method also includes identifying, at the network endpoint, the at least first chunk using the packet, and determining at the network endpoint if the network endpoint has the first chunk. If it is determined that the network endpoint has the first chunk, the first chunk is provided from the network endpoint to the client. Alternatively, if it is determined that the network endpoint does not have the first chunk, the packet is provided to a second segment.
