    Abstract: A device for laying, in a stepped motion, tubular conduits from a floating support comprises a pair of clamps for gripping the tubular conduit. Each clamp can alternately provide a restraining force on the tubular conduit to be laid. The device is characterized in that one of the clamps can move relative to said floating support and is submerged. The mobile clamp (2) is at least partially annular so that the tubular conduit (5, 15) it surrounds can be inserted through it and has a first, closed position on the conduit (5, 15) and a second, open position which allows the mobile clamp (2) to slide along the conduit (5, 15). The device is also characterized in that it comprises means (16, 4) which hold the mobile clamp (2) and support loads on said floating support (1) when the tubular conduit (5, 15) is being laid.
