Abstract: Disclosed herein is a dual component oral care composition comprising a first component comprising a solid composition comprising at least one whitening agent chosen from chloride isocyanurate and metal salts of hypochlorite; and a second component comprising an aqueous mouthwash composition comprising at least one effervescent acid. Further disclosed herein is a kit comprising the solid composition and the aqueous mouthwash composition, as well as methods of whitening teeth and/or producing antibacterial effects in the oral cavity comprising mixing the solid composition with the aqueous mouthwash composition until the solid composition disintegrates to create a mouthwash comprising hypochlorite; and contacting teeth with the mouthwash comprising hypochlorite.
