Abstract:
An oral care instrument, such as a motorized toothbrush, which activates upon exposure to the oral environment of the user, is described. The electrical conductivity of saliva, optionally mixed with toothpaste and water, may be utilized to complete an electrical circuit that powers a motorized device within the instrument.
Abstract:
A glycine-free aluminum and/or zirconium Betaine salt having a metal to chloride molar ratio in the range of 0.3-2.5:1, a Betaine:aluminum molar ratio in the range of 0.05 - 1.0:1 and/or a Betaine:zirconium molar ratio in the range of 0.2-3.0:1, wherein the Betaine is used in its normal form described in Formula I, or in its derivative form of Betaine hydrochloride, described in Formula IA.
Abstract:
A device for generating a chemical agent in situ on an as-needed basis via the application of an electrical potential across a pair of conductors in communication with an electrolyte. The device may be a toothbrush that generates chemical agents in a user's mouth by applying an electrical potential to an electrolyte such as saliva and/or a dentifrice located therein. The chemical agents may include ozone, hydrogen peroxide, peroxide, chlorine and/or hypochlorite. The toothbrush may include a voltage source and a first set of electrodes for applying an electrical potential to the electrolyte. The toothbrush may also include a second set of electrodes disposed about an anode of the first set of electrodes. The first and second sets of anodes cooperate to produce ions, peroxides, ozone and/or other chemical agents via the application of electrical potential to the electrolyte.
Abstract:
A dual phase stick antiperspirant and/or deodorant product comprising a non-gelled opaque inner core as 20-70 weight % of the total composition and a clear outer shell as 30-80 weight % of the total composition wherein: (a) based on the weight of the inner core as 100%, the composition of the inner core comprises: (i) 20-70 weight % of an antiperspirant active powder, provided that the total amount of antiperspirant active in the total product does not exceed 25 weight %; (ii) 0.1-20 weight % of a filler; (iii) 2-20 weight % of a binder; (iv) 1-20 weight % of an emollient; (b) based on the weight of the outer shell as 100%, the clear outer shell is formed around the inner core and comprises: (i) 7-15 weight % of a selected siliconized polyamide of Formula IIIA as described; (ii) 8-80 weight % of a silicone component comprising at least 8-30 weight % of a volatile silicone; (iii) 10-70 weight % of a non-silicone organic material; (iv) optionally a co-gellant selected from the described group; wherein the outer gelled shell comprises the polyamide in combination with the silicone and non-silicone organic materials so that the ratio of the non-silicone organic materials to the organosilicone materials is in the range of 10:1-0.01:1.
Abstract:
An oral care instrument (1) includes at least one oral care agent. In one embodiment, the oral care agent can be provided on one or more surfaces of the oral care instrument or included within cavities (50) within the head or in one or more surfaces of a head. In other embodiment, the oral care agent can be provided in or on a thin slab subsequently bonded onto a surface, or applied as a stable coating. The oral care instrument can also be provided with a wear indicator (120) . The oral care agents can be released during one use, during multiple uses, or throughout the life of the instrument. Water, oral secretions and/or chemicals within the mouth can activate the oral care agents .
Abstract:
Clear antiperspirant and/or deodorant compositions, especially clear sticks having good structural integrity, can be formed by incorporating at least 8% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of a selected siliconized polyamide into a product formulated with at least one silicone material and at least one non-silicone emollient. The siliconized polyamides have the silicone portion in the acid side of the polyamide and are selected so that: (a) the degree of polymerization in the silicone portion is in the range of 12-18; (b) the average molecular weight of the siliconized polyamide is at least 50,000 daltons with at least 95% of the polyamide having a molecular weight greater than 10,000 as measured by size exclusion chromatography; and (c) the polydispersity is less than 20.
Abstract:
An oral care implement includes a reservoir containing at least one active agent. The implement has an activator for activating a delivery device, which delivers a predetermined amount of an active agent to one or more outlets. A wide variety of types of active agents can be administered at appropriate and accurate doses for therapeutic, hygienic and/or other benefits.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a new material useful in oral care products such as dental floss or as a toothbrush bristle. The material is a silicon-modified polyamide blended with a different polyamide material. The preferred different polyamide material is the conventional material used to make bristles of toothbrushes. The different polyamide material is preferably a nylon material.
Abstract:
A stabilized aluminum/zirconium/glycine salt comprising a Betaine of Formula I as additive: in a sufficient amount to have (a) an overall (Betaine + glycine)/ Zr ratio in the range of 0.1-3.0:1, (b) a ratio of Betaine to glycine of at least 0.001:1; and (c) sufficient Betaine so that at least 0.1% of the ratio of Betaine + glycine is contributed by Betaine.
Abstract:
A method of inducing a sale of a product in a retail environment includes providing the product in a storage structure from which a potential purchaser may take physical possession of the product. A true hologram is provided to project a three-dimensional holographic image into a first space proximate to the storage structure to attract potential purchaser attention. The holographic image from the true hologram is used to communicate information about the product to the potential purchaser.
