The present invention relates to liquid cleaning compositions comprising: (a) 0.1% to 8% of an anionic sulfonate or sulfate surfactant; (b) 0.5% to 15% of at least one nonionic surfactant selected from the group consisting of a mixture of ethoxylated polyhydric alcohol type compounds as defined in formulas (I) and (II), an ethoxylated/propoxylated nonionic surfactant and an ethoxylated nonionic surfactant; (c) 0.5% to 8% of a short chain amphiphile; (d) 0.05% to 2% of a fatty acid; (e) 0.25% to 8% of magnesium sulfate; (f) 0.1% to 5% of a perfume, essential oil or water insoluble hydrocarbon; (g) 0.001% to 1% of at least one preservative selected from the group consisting of 5-bromo-5-nitro-dioxan-1, 3, isothiazolinole mixtures, and 1, 3 dimethylol dimethyl hydantoin and mixtures thereof; (h) 0.25% to 1.5% of a biodegradable chelating agent; and (i) the balance being water.
