Abstract:
Described herein are films comprising a zinc-containing compound and a film-stabilizing ingredient, for use in oral and personal care compositions.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a method for reducing or inhibiting the crystallization of taurine in a soap bar, wherein the method comprises: a) admixing a fatty acid soap with an aqueous solution of taurine or taurine salt as a taurine source to form an amalgamate and b) preparing a soap bar comprising the amalgamate. Further provided is a soap bar obtained by the above method.
Abstract:
Methods of preparing a dentifrice comprising polymer matrix film with a low solubility flavorant therein are disclosed. The methods comprise combining a polymer matrix film that are free of a low solubility flavorant with a dentifrice base comprising a low solubility flavorant and maintaining the combined polymer matrix film with the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant for an amount of time sufficient for an amount of a low solubility flavorant to transfer from the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant to the polymer matrix film Products comprising low solubility flavorant-free polymer matrix film in a dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods of preparing a dentifrice comprising polymer matrix film with menthol therein are disclosed. The methods comprise combining a polymer matrix film that comprises hydrophobic additives and is free of a low solubility flavorant such as menthol with a dentifrice base comprising a low solubility flavorant such as menthol and maintaining the combined polymer matrix film with the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant for an amount of time sufficient for an amount of a low solubility flavorant to transfer from the dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant to the polymer matrix film and establish an equilibrium of menthol concentration between the polymer matrix film and the dentifrice base. Products comprising low solubility flavorant-free polymer matrix film in a dentifrice base comprising low solubility flavorant are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An oral care composition having enhanced flavor release comprising an orally acceptable carrier containing a first flavor and a multilayer film for extended or delayed flavor release, the multilayer film including at least a center layer containing a second flavor, the center layer positioned between two outer surface layers, each surface layer including a release modulating agent, the first and second flavor being the same or different. The film is adapted to adhere to an oral cavity surface and the outer surface layers may comprise a mucoadhesive polymer, e.g. carboxy polymethylene, polycarbophil or polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and a film forming polymer, eg. hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC). Suitable release modulating agents include HPMC and polyvinyl acetate. The carrier may be a toothpaste or mouthwash.
Abstract:
A composition for minimizing color fading of an oral care composition is provided. The composition comprises: a) an organic dye-encapsulated silica shell nanoparticle matrix, b) a physiologically stable fluoride ion providing compound in an amount of about 0.1 % to about 1 % by weight, c) a peroxide species providing compound in an amount of about 1 % to about 20% by weight. The encapsulated silica shell dye nanoparticle stabilizes the color against degradation in the presence of peroxide and fluoride ions.
Abstract:
Described herein, are films, compositions containing the films and methods of preparing a dentifrice comprising the films, wherein the films contain a low solubility flavorant.

Abstract:
Oral care compositions which provide enhanced flavour release, and which comprise a multilayer film and an orally acceptable carrier. The carrier contains a first flavour and the film has a centre layer containing a second flavour disposed between two outer surface layers. The first and second flavours may be identical or different. Each layer for the film may comprise a film forming polymer, e.g. hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose. The outer layers may comprise a release modulating agent, e.g. polyvinyl acetate or hydroxyethyl cellulose. The carrier may be a dentifrice or mouthwash.
Abstract:
The invention relates to desensitizing, anti-tartar oral care compositions comprising an orally acceptable vehicle and an effective desensitizing and anti-tartar amount of tetrapotassium pyrophosphate.
