Abstract:
Hair rinse compositions, in emulsion or dispersion form, which condition the hair and facilitate setting thereof, includes a hair conditioning and emulsifying cationic compound, a water insoluble acrylic or acrylate polymer and a solvent which is a stabilizing and compatibilizing proportion of the composition comprising a higher aliphatic alcohol and/or alcohol ethoxylate, in an aqueous medium. The cationic compound is a quarternary ammonium salt preferably a higher alkyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and the polymer is preferably an acrylamide acrylate copolymer. Preferably solvents in the compositions are C9-20 aliphatic alcohols and/or C9-20 alcohol ethoxylates having less than 2 ethoxy groups per mole. The preferred emulsion, which is normally of the oil-in-water type, preferably includes propylene glycol and a nonionic surfactant, and the aqueous medium is preferably water, or is essentially water. The invention also includes processes for making and using the invented hair rinse compositions.
Abstract:
A hair conditioning shampoo in stable emulsion or suspension form comprising: (i) 5 to 40 % by weight of at least one anionic surfactant; (ii) 0.01 to 5 % by weight of a vinyl-type cationic polymer, including a copolymer of acrylamide or a derivative thereof and a dialkyl (C1-C5) diallyl ammonium salt; or a terpolymer of acrylamide, acrylic acid and dialkyl (C1-C5) diallyl ammonium salt; or a copolymer of vinylimidazolium methochloride and vinyl pyrrolidone or mixtures thereof having a hair conditioning effect and a charge density ranging between 150 and 400; (iii) 0.1 to 10 % by weight of at least one dispersed water-insoluble hair conditioning agent; (iv) 0.5 to 10 % by weight of at least one dispersing agent which functions to stabilize the emulsion or suspension; and (v) the remainder water.
Abstract:
A conditioning shampoo comprising: (a) 4-25 weight % of an anionic surfactant or mixtures of two or more anionic surfactants; (b) 0.025-3 weight % of a cationic deposition polymer; (c) 0.1-5 weight % of a detergent soluble silicone having a molecular weight less than 100,000 daltons; and (d) water.
Abstract:
This invention relates to improved stabilized shampoo compositions containing siloxysilicate materials commonly referred to as MQ resins, wherein the stabilizers are selected from (i) long chain fatty alcohols with greater than 14 carbons; (ii) acrylate/steareth-20 methacrylate copolymer; acrylates copolymer; and acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer; and (iii) selected N,N-disubstituted phthalamic acids and their ammonium salts.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an improved formulation hair volumizers which comprise: (a) from 0.01 - 15 percent by weight (based on the total weight of the composition) of a selected liquid MQ resin having an M:Q ratio of 0.5-1.5 and a medium viscosity in the range of 1.0 x 103 - 1 x 106 centipoise; and (b) from 85 - 99.99 percent by weight (based on the total weight of the composition) of a hair care carrier (also called a vehicle). The compositions of this invention provide hair with increased volume without significant stiffness or stickiness and may be made in the form of a shampoo, conditioner, combination shampoo/conditioner, sprays, liquid rinses, gels or mousses.

Abstract:
Rinse-off hair care compositions consisting essentially of emulsions of water-insoluble adhesive polymers having a solubility in water at 25 °C less than 1.0 % for repairing split ends. Hair rinse compositions, in emulsion or dispersion form, which condition the hair and facilitate setting thereof, include a hair conditioning and emulsifying cationic compound, a water insoluble acrylic or acrylate polymer and a solvent which is a stabilizing and compatibilizing proportion of the composition comprising a higher aliphatic alcohol and/or alcohol ethoxylate, in an aqueous medium. The cationic compound is a quaternary ammonium salt preferably a higher alkyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and the polymer is preferably an acrylamide acrylate copolymer. Preferably, solvents in the compositions are C9-20 aliphatic alcohols and/or C9-20 alcohol ethoxylates having less than 2 ethoxy groups per mole. The preferred emulsion, which is normally of the oil-in-water type, preferably includes propylene glycol and a nonionic surfactant, and the aqueous medium is preferably water, or is essentially water.
