Abstract: A self-sealing closure device for a container comprising an insert (1) adapted to be secured within a container neck (2) and comprising a pouring opening as well as a cap (11) adpated to be fastened on the container neck (2). The insert (1) comprises an inwardly extending resilient conically shaped sealing means (8), which at its inner end is provided with an upwardly facing sealing face (10) adapted to sealingly cooperate with a downwardly facing sealing face (18) on the cap (11), the sealing engagement of the two sealing faces (10, 18) being released at a predetermined internal overpressure in the container.

Abstract: Lightweight hydrostatic containers (10) having thin walls and other surfaces that are maintained in tension by the liquid contained in the containers (10). The body portion (12) is substantially circular and has a plurality of recesses (14). The recesses (14) strengthen the container (10) and provide points where the container can axially collapse. On the lower end the container (10) has a base (16) with an upwardly extending inner portion (20). The inner portion (20) extends upwardly at least the vertical dimension of a spout (26) of the container (10). On an upper end of the body portion (12) is a shoulder (24) supporting an axial spout (26). The containers (10) are packed in cartons (40) in double squares. The cartons (40) have sidewalls (36, 38) that do not extend above the body portions (12) of the containers (10). The carton bottom wall (42) has openings (41, 43, 44) in alignment with the upwardly extending inner portion (20) of each container (10), whereby the spouts (26) of containers (10) in a lower carton (40) fit into the inner portions (20) of the containers (10) of an upper carton (40).
