Abstract:
Provided is a tube structure for packaging products. The tube structure can include a tube body and a tube shoulder/nozzle. The tube shoulder/nozzle can include a barrier material. The barrier material can include high density polyethylene (HDPE), ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymer and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC).
Abstract:
Described herein is a recyclable packaging having an exposed outermost surface, the recyclable packaging comprising: a wall comprising an inner surface opposite an outer surface, the wall having a multi-layer structure that includes a first layer comprising biaxially oriented polypropylene, a second layer comprising metallized cast polypropylene, a third layer comprising cast polypropylene; and a cavity at least partially surrounded by the wall.
Abstract:
A laminate and a method for forming the laminate. The formation of the laminate may include attaching an inner polyolefin layer (104) and an outer polyolefin layer (106) to a barrier layer (102), wherein the barrier layer (102) is interposed between the outer and inner polyolefin layers. The formation of the laminate may further include forming a holographic film including a backing layer, a release layer (204), an adhesive layer (206), a holographic grating layer (208), a reflective layer (210), and a protective coating (212). The holographic film may be attached to the outer polyolefin layer (106) using a transfer adhesive (300). Subsequently, the backing layer may be removed from the release layer (204), then the release layer (204) may be primed, for example, by forming a primer overcoat layer on the release layer (204). A patterned layer (700), for example, text and/or graphics, may be formed on the primer layer (600), then a varnish layer (702) may be formed on the patterned layer (700).
Abstract:
A laminate that may be used to store a product such as a toothpaste, various food items, lotions, etc. The laminate includes a reflective metal layer, a hologram layer, and an outer film interposed between the reflective metal layer and the hologram layer, wherein the outer film is transparent or translucent. The formation of the hologram layer can be performed at a lower temperature that the formation of other laminate structures so as not to damage the hologram. The laminate may be used as a tube wall, and can provide a self-sealing side seam.
Abstract:
A laminate ma tend comprising in sequence from outermost layer to innermost layer: (a) an outer sealant layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer, (b) a paper layer, (c) a barrier layer, and (d) an inner sealant layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer, wherein the paper layer has a Scott bond strength of 250 - 450 J/m 2 is provided.
Abstract:
A container (10) comprising a body (18) having a cavity (41) for containing a product, a nozzle (16) and a closure (14). The container is opened at the dispensing orifice (43) of the nozzle by severing the closure from the nozzle via manual force from the user. The closure is formed of a mixture comprising high density polyethylene and an inorganic additive that lowers the impact strength and toughness of the high density polyethylene while increasing flexural modulus and hardness. The closure may be unitarily formed with the nozzle as a single piece.
Abstract:
The invention provides a novel flexible, substantially gas impermeable laminate material comprising starch/polymer blends, which can be used to make dispensing tubes, e.g., for toothpaste, which material is light, resilient, and inexpensive, which can be made almost entirely from renewable materials, and which can be recycled.
Abstract:
A dispenser for storing and dispensing a substance, includes: (a) an inner layer including an inner layer polymer; (b) outer layer; (c) a metal foil barrier layer between the inner layer and the outer layer; (d) a compartment for storing the substance; and (e) a resealable opening, wherein the outer layer includes an outer layer polymer and a block copolymer effective to provide the outer layer with an impact resistance at least 5% greater than a reference structure. The inner layer polymer is preferably LDPE, the outer layer polymer is preferably a blend of LDPE, HDPE and block copolymer or alternatively the outer layer is subdivided into layers of LDPE, HDPE and block- copolymer, in this order. The block copolymer is preferably an SBS block copolymer having thermoplastic elastomer properties. The dispenser is particularly well -suited for dispensing toothpaste.
Abstract:
Described herein, are cleansing bar compositions comprising at least one cleanser chosen from soap and surfactant; taurine, in free or salt form; and at least one polymer. Methods of making using the cleansing bar compositions are also described.
Abstract:
A package (1000) for containing a fluidic product. In one embodiment of the invention, the package comprises a first laminate sheet (200) and a second laminate sheet (300) thermoformed together to form a unitary body (100). The unitary body (100) has a product containing portion (110) having a product cavity containing a fluidic product, a nozzle portion (120) for dispensing the fluidic product from the product cavity, and a break-off cap (130) sealing a dispensing orifice of the nozzle portion (120). Each of the first and second laminate sheets (200, 300) includes a layer of polyethylene (PE) and a layer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The layer of PE has a first thickness and the layer of PET has a second thickness, the second thickness being less than or equal to the first thickness.
