Abstract:
Disclosed is an ostomy device with an adhesive wafer for attachment to a skin surface of a user and a collecting bag for collecting output from a stoma. The collecting bag is connected to the adhesive wafer, and the adhesive wafer has a through-going hole for accommodating the stoma of the user. The adhesive wafer includes a backing layer, a first switchable adhesive composition, a second adhesive composition, and a release liner. The first adhesive is contained in a recess in the device. The first switchable adhesive composition comprises a polymer and a switch initiator, and can be switched from a first liquid state to a second adhesive state by activation of the switch initiator
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a convex shell for use in a base plate of an ostomy appliance. The convex shell comprises an annular ring defined by an outer edge and an inner edge defining a through-going hole. The annular ring further comprises at least four transition sections extending transversely across the annular ring, dividing the annular ring into at least a first, second, third and fourth segment. By changing the characteristics of the convex shell in such sections, it is possible to control the bending of the shell and, as will be described herein, it will be possible to keep the area around the stoma more stable and resistant towards collapsing, while providing improved flexibility in the peristomal area for better comfort.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fecal management system for collecting fecal matter from the rectum. The system comprises a first fecal receiving bag (1) and a second fecal receiving bag (20) having an elongated section (21) extending in a flow direction between a second proximal opening (23) and a reservoir section (22), wherein the first fecal receiving bag and the second fecal receiving bag are connectable to each other. This provides a fecal management system that is adaptable to the user; e.g. the first fecal receiving bag can be produced as a compact and portable device, which allows for the user to move around as fecal matter will be collected in the first fecal receiving bag and thereby avoiding any embarrassing accidents; and when the user lies in bed the second fecal receiving bag can be coupled to the first fecal, receiving bag, which allows for additional capacity for collecting e.g. nightly stools.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a receiving member and a disposable bag liner, a method for producing a compacted inner bag liner, and a method for applying such an ostomy appliance. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a bag being compacted lengthwise while twisting a bottom part in relation to a rim and a method of compacting the same.
Abstract:
An ostomy support garment having a hole for receiving a stoma, said hole having a stabilised edge wherein the edge is provided with a flexible element allowing a deformation of the shape of the hole and providing a snug fit to the stoma ensures an easy application and removal combined with a sufficient support next to the stoma.
Abstract:
A base plate for an ostomy appliance including a removable protection element provided on a proximal adhesive surface of the base plate wherein an uptake portion is provided on the removable protection element and is adapted to take up stomal effluents. Further disclosed are methods of preventing stomal effluents from the stoma from contaminating the adhesive material of the base plate during application of the base plate to the skin surface around the stoma of the user, as well as a kit of parts and an accessory for a base plate of an ostomy appliance.
Abstract:
A base plate comprising an adhesive wafer and a convex supporting device. An ostomy appliance comprising a base plate with an adhesive wafer and a convex supporting device.
Abstract:
Disclosed is abase plate 1 for an ostomy collection device, comprising a cover layer 2 whereon an adhesive layer 3 is at least partly disposed. Immediately surrounding a through-going hole 6,the base plate has an inner area wherein the cover layer extends beyond the adhesive layer in a radial direction toward the through-going hole, thereby providing an overlap7 protecting the adhesive material from contact with stomal output.
Abstract:
An ostomy device that comprises an adhesive wafer for attaching to the skin around the stoma. The wafer comprises an adhesive layer (2) having a proximal adhesive side and a distal side, where the distal side is covered with a backing layer (1). The wafer comprises a central portion and a peripheral portion, and it comprises a proximal section (5) located on the proximal side of the central portion and a distal section (6) visually arranged on the distal side of peripheral portion, wherein the distal section changes colour when the proximal section is exposed to fluid.
Abstract:
A faecal management device suitable for attachment directly to the perianal skin between the buttocks of the wearer. The device utilises an optimised adhesive wafer (1) in order to securely attach the device to the skin of the wearer so that the device is maintained in position for the entire period of wear, including circumstances or periods of wear during which the wearer is active, i.e. not bedridden. In addition the faecal management device of the present invention has the ability for easy application of the device.
