Abstract: A medical dressing comprising a silver compound and being capable of releasing antimicrobial silver ion activity in the range of 50 - 10000 micrograms per cm 2 dressing to a wound and, at the same time, being capable of absorbing more than 0.09 grams per cm 2 dressing of wound exudate and also degrading enzymes from the wound initiates healing of chronic ulcers which for a long period has not responded by healing as a result of treatment with known wound dressings.
