Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ostomy appliance capable of reducing the risk of leakage and also reducing the necessary cleaning of the appliance when substituting a receiving bag in the ostomy appliance having a body side member with an adhesive wafer or pad for securing the appliance to the user's skin, the wafer or pad having a hole for receiving a stoma, and a separately exchangeable receiving bag secured to the body side ostomy member for receiving secretions from the ostomy. SOLUTION: The body side member includes a first substantially annular flange connected to a base plate via a first connecting section and the receiving bag includes a second substantially annular flange which is connected to the collecting bag via a substantially annular second connecting section and is designed for removable and adhesive connection with the first flange wherein the second flange has a plurality of perforations in an essentially circular zone having a diameter corresponding to or larger than an outer radius of the first connecting section. Abstract:
The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a receiving member (5) and a disposable bag liner (7), a method for producing a compacted inner bag liner (7), and a method for applying such an ostomy appliance. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a bag being compacted lengthwise while twisting a bottom part in relation to a rim and a method of compacting the same.
Abstract:
An ostomy system for receiving bodily waste comprises a drainage bag (200) and a filter (100) comprising an open-cell foam (102) for preventing liquid and solid particles from passing from the drainage bag to its surroundings. The foam defines a passageway for releasing flatus gasses from the drainage bag to its surrounds, and at least a portion of the foam is arranged at a folding line defined by the drainage bag during use thereof. The foam may be a open-cell foam (102) embedded in a closed-cell foam (128) in a filter flange 146. A gas permeable hydrophobic membrane (127) may be provided at an outlet of the open-cell foam (102). The surroundings of the drainage bag (200) may be constituted by the interior of an outer bag.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a disposable inner bag liner (16) for an ostomy appliance, the inner gab liner being (16) adhered to a release liner (2) prior to attachment to an outer receiving member (20). In particular the present invention relates to an alignment means (6) and to gripping means (6) of the release liner (2). Additionally the present invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising the aforementioned inner bag liner with the gripping means (6) and/or the alignment means. Finally, the invention relates to a method of application of the inner bag liner (16).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a convex shell (1) for use in a base plate of an ostomy appliance. The convex shell comprises an annular ring (5) defined by an outer edge (6) and an inner edge (7) defining a through-going hole (8). The annular ring further comprises at least four transition sections (9,10,11,12) extending transversely across the annular ring, dividing the annular ring into at least a first, second, third and fourth segment (15,16,17,18). By changing the characteristics of the convex shell in such sections, it is possible to control the bending of the shell and, as will be described herein, it will be possible to keep the area around the stoma more stable and resistant towards collapsing, while providing improved flexibility in the peristomal area for better comfort.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an appliance for irrigation and/or drainage, which appliance comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to the patient's skin, said wafer can be provided with an aperture for receiving a stoma, surrounding a wound, a fistula or a drainage site, a wall of flexible material, the wall comprising a rear wall and a front wall, the rear wall being attached to the wafer and having an opening suitable for surrounding the surface area of the skin to be cleansed, and the front wall comprising a coupling flange adapted for removable coupling and sealing to matching coupling means, an sealed chamber which, when inflated, provides a distance between the adhesive wafer and the coupling flange.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an adapter connecting the anus or perianal stomas to a peripheral device, such as a bag for collecting stool; a peripheral device, which is connectable to an adapter connecting the peripheral device to the anus providing a liquid tight fit; and a kit comprising an adapter and a peripheral device. The invention furthermore relates to an adapter, which allows for a flexible coupling between the adapter and the peripheral device when the flexible coupling flange of the adapter is coupled with a flexible coupling plate of the peripheral device. This has the advantage that when in use the flexible coupling will follow the contour of the body when pressure is applied providing a coupling which is more comfortable for the user and which also reduces the risk of creating ulcers for bedridden users who may have to lie on parts of or the whole adapter, peripheral device and/or the coupling there between.
Abstract:
An access port for enabling passage of a conduit through a partition wall, said port comprising three portions, a sleeve portion surrounding an aperture for receiving a conduit there through, a flange portion for attachment to the partition wall, said flange portion encircles the sleeve portion and has a greater diameter than the sleeve portion, and a membrane portion connecting the flange portion and the sleeve portion. The port may be suitable for, in a leak-proof manner, passing a catheter or drain tube through the wall of a medical device such as a wound care device or a drainage bag.
Abstract:
An ostomy appliance comprising a base plate (1), said base plate (1) having a first hole for receiving a stoma (2), ureter, or catheter and an adhesive wafer (3) having a first surface (4) to be attached to the wearer's abdomen back, or chest; a receiving member or bag (5) releasably attached to the base plate (1), said bag (5) having a second hole (6) for receiving wastes exiting the stoma (2), ureter or catheter; and a disposable inner bag liner (7) forming a second bag inside the receiving member (5) and being releasably attachable to the base plate (1) in a first coupling area (9) by first coupling means, said disposable inner bag liner (7) having a third hole (8) for receiving wastes exiting the stoma (2), ureter or catheter and the receiving member (5) being releasably attachable to the base plate (1) by second coupling means wherein the first coupling means is in the form of an adhesive flange (10) projecting from the rim of the third hole and having a surface for releasable sealing against a second surface of the base plate facing away from the user provides an ostomy appliance combining the advantages of using a separate, flushable inner bags with an easy, safe, hygienic and discreet management of the collected waste with maximum safety against soiling parts of the appliance not to be substituted when substituting the inner bag (7), which inner bag may be used directly together with existing ostomy devices.
