Abstract: Millimeter wave communications system include an RF printed circuit board structure that includes a phased array antenna that has a plurality of radiating elements and a channel block that includes a plurality of active antenna channels that each feed a respective one of a plurality of sub-groups of the radiating elements. A first sub-set of the active antenna channels are completely positioned on a first side of the phased array antenna and a second sub-set of the active antenna channels each include a first portion that is on a second side of the phased array antenna, the second side being adjacent the first side.

Abstract: Base station antennas utilize RF transmitters and receivers, which operate with enhanced bias control to achieve very high speed switching during TDD operation. A radio frequency communication circuit for TDD includes a transmit/receive amplifier (e.g., MMIC) having first and second input terminals, which are responsive to a bias control voltage and radio frequency input signal. A bias control circuit is provided, which is electrically coupled to the first input terminal and a current receiving terminal of the transmit/receive amplifier. The bias control circuit includes a closed-loop feedback path between the current receiving terminal and the first input terminal, which is configured to regulate a magnitude of the bias control voltage with high precision to thereby achieve a substantially constant quiescent bias current at the current receiving terminal when the transmit/receive amplifier is enabled.

Abstract: A MIMO antenna system includes a pair of vertical monopole radiating elements on a forward-facing surface of a substrate, and first and second arrays of horizontal dipole radiating elements, which are arranged as a closed-loop of radiating elements on a rear-facing surface of the substrate. Each radiating arm of each of the horizontal dipole radiating elements in the first and second arrays is electrically coupled by a respective horizontal feed stalk to edges of a ground plane, which is provided on the rear-facing surface of the substrate. First and second feed signal routing networks are provided on the forward-facing surface of the substrate, and are electrically coupled via the substrate to the first and second arrays of radiating elements, respectively.
