    Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently regenerate a resin by bringing a basic anion exchange resin after ion exchange is over into contact with a base, displacing acidic anion with hydroxyl ion and subsequently bringing the resin into contact with dil. mineral acid to remove metal cation. CONSTITUTION: A resin, containing acidic anion which displaced hydroxyl ion at cationic site on a basic anion exchange resin and accumulated metal cation Fe , Fe or the like, is brought into contact with a base selected from alkali metal hydroxides and ammonium hydroxide to displace acidic anion from cationic site with hydroxyl ion. Subsequently, after an anion exchange resin is brought into contact with dil. mineral acid and accumulated metal cations are removed, the resin is brought into contact with a base to remove residual mineral acid and metal salts and the hydroxyl ion is displaced at cationic site to regenerate the basic anion exchange resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently regenerate an acidic cation exchange resin used in the reactivation of spent alkanolamine by treating the resin with aq. ammonia to elute alkanolamine and then treating the resin with a weak mineral acid soln. CONSTITUTION: An acidic cation exchange resin used in the reactivation of spent alkanolamine is treated with an aq. ammonia soln. to elute alkanolamine from the resin with the min. displacement of alkali metal cations. The resin is then treated with a weak mineral acid soln. to elute the ammonia, metal cations and remaining alkanolamine. The resin is thus regenerated. The alkanolamine is, e.g. protonated ethanolamine, diethanolamine, methyldiethanolamine or diisopropylamine.
