Abstract: PURPOSE: To retract a work deck to an area not being influenced by tidal wave by developing to at least one working position in an area where a retractable deck is influenced by wave at the time of tidal wave and retracting to a second stand-by position out of the area where the retractable deck is influenced by wave. CONSTITUTION: A platform 10 has one retractable work deck 20 and is constituted free to carry out free and unrestricted work without being troubled by a lower part fixed deck under the lower part fixed deck extremely congested with a valve, etc., of a well head. This retractable work deck 20 has a plural number of removable support panels, and it is possible to carry out work in the safest form by arranging them in a favourable form. Additionally, it is possible to develop this work deck at a position in an area having possibility to be tossed about by tidal wave under the lower part fixed deck 17. Consequently, it is possible to inspect and operate a device under the deck by easily approaching it.
