Abstract: A method of determining the location of a movable seat (14) in a vehicle relative a stationary reference point (18). The method includes the steps of providing a flexible member (12) characterized by electrical resistance as a function of curvature, operationally connecting the flexible member to the seat (14) such that movement of the seat relative the reference point (18) bends the flexible member (12), moving the seat relative the reference point (18), measuring the electrical resistance of the flexible member (12), and determining the location of the seat (14).
