Abstract: A light fixture assembly includes a light fixture and one or more reflectors having a curved cross-sectional profile. The light fixture includes a housing that is configured to house one or more electrical components of the light fixture. Further, the light fixture includes a heat sink that is coupled to the housing, and a plurality of light sources coupled to a bottom surface of the heat sink such that they emit light in a first direction. At least one of the one or more reflectors is coupled to the heat sink and disposed in the first direction of at least a portion of the plurality LEDs such that the light emitted by the portion of the plurality of LEDs is reflected by a substantially concave shaped inner surface of the respective reflector towards a second direction that is substantially opposite to the first direction.

Abstract: An optic can manage light emitted by a light emitting diode. The optic can comprise a backside that faces the light emitting diode and a front side opposite the backside. The front side can be convex. The backside can have a central region that is adjacent the light emitting diode and that is either concave or convex. One or more grooves can extend peripherally about the central region. An injection molding system can produce optics in which the backside comprises the concave central region as well as optics in which the backside comprises the convex central region. The molding system can utilize one molding member shaped according to the front side of the optic. That molding member can be compatible with two other molding members that are shaped according to the different backsides of the optic. Thus, two different optic forms can be produced with three molding members.

Abstract: A lighting system can comprise an array of domed light emitting diodes covering a surface area of a substrate and two optics for processing emitted light. The first optic can comprise an inner surface facing the array and an exterior surface facing away from the array. The second optic can comprise grooves extending away from the array. The inner surface of the first optic can form a cavity that is large relative to the array. For example, the cavity can have a volume exceeding the volume of a cube, where each side of the cube has the surface area of the array.
