    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate or substantially reduce a general type of thickness variation identified as short wave variation.SOLUTION: An apparatus for forming a continuous ribbon of molten glass includes: a forming body comprising converging forming surfaces that converge at a root; an enclosure disposed about the forming body; a cooling unit 38 coupled to the enclosure. The cooling unit includes: a fixture 42; a pivot member 46 disposed within the fixture; and a cooling tube 40 coupled to the pivot member. The pivot member is configured to rotate about at least one axis 52, thereby causing the cooling tube to direct a cooling gas flow toward the molten glass flowing over the forming body. When the pivot member is rotated about the axis 52, a lateral position of an end of the cooling tube varies relative to the forming body.
