Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an optical switch which can completely use the performance of an optical component and utilizes a flow of information even at a very high speed inside even when an electronic control part exists. CONSTITUTION: An optical switch for a high-speed cell switching network consists of an optical mutual connection network(CM) and an electric control network (CT). In order to sufficiently make sufficient use of optical constituent element performance and to overcome restrictions imposed by an operating speed limit of an electric constituent element, respective inputs (IN1 to INk) of the mutual connection network (CM) form a basic group of cells which are expected to pass through the same path through the mutual connection network, the basic group is related to a means (PAC1 to PACk) for time compression and respective outputs (OUT1 to OUk) are related to a means (PAD1 to PADk) for time expansion of the basic group and separation of collective cells.
